I've been out to all my friends and immediate family forever now, but had been planning on waiting until I go full time at the end of this year before I went 100% public, especially at work. Well I am currently in school for journalism and our department has a website where they publish the best student papers. Our last paper of the year was an op-ed and at the time, my city was passing gender identity protections. Naturally, that's what I wrote about. When debating whether to make it personal, I figured that I was one of 200+ students in the lowest level class, so the likelihood of it getting published was low. Even if it was picked, it's not like anyone actually goes to that page, so I made it personal. Well, I just got an email that my paper is now on the website. However, since writing it, I started working at a place where there is another journalism major from my school. If anyone goes to that stupid website it is him, and work is the one place I don't want to be outed early. Fingers crossed that he never finds it
OK here also my fingers crossed, just be ready in needed.
Wish you the best.
Izzy
Aw, I'm sorry
I hope soon you will be in a good place to start being more open with your true self,
I wish you the best of luck ~
Thanks. It wouldn't be the end of the world if they found out at work, it's just a silly part time job to supplement my GI Bill income. I just want to delay having to find a job while openly trans for as long as possible.
Hopefully he will not find that paper. Even if he does see it, he may not say anything to anybody about it. I would just prepare in he does say something. It's better to prepare for the worst, but hope for the best in these sorts of situations.
I hope all works well for you as these things definately need to be at your own comfortable pace. :) Dani
