Title: Hello everyone! I'm Jess (sometimes)
Post by: JessSometimes on July 11, 2014, 02:06:20 PM
Hi! I just found this forum while googling for some advice on TG fashion and makeup, and after lurking for a bit decided to join up!

I am still exploring my gender identity, and not entirely sure where I fit in the spectrum yet. Since I was very young, I recognized I had a feminine side but mostly kept it secret. Once I was able to get my hands on clothes, I started crossdressing occasionally, but only in private.  Most of my life I treated this as something to keep hidden, almost shameful, and I can't count the times I would try to push it out of my life by throwing everything out and trying to shut out the feelings. But they always returned.

Fortunately over the last couple years (I'm 35 now) with the help of some friends I have made and some therapy I have begun to truly accept my femininity as part of who I am and not something to be ashamed of.

Earlier this year I started going out in public dressed for the first times, and the uncertainties and fear still make the first few steps out the door on the way to my car terrifying. However, each time I return home I feel more confident, happy and with a greater sense of comfort in who I am than I did before.

I am hoping that joining here I can make new friends, learn more from others who share some of the same experiences, and to try to help others with any advice or encouragement that I can give!

Glad to have you around :)

Congrats on staring therapy. Wherever you fit on the spectrum, I believe it will help you understand yourself so much better.
