I started HRT about 2 months ago. I am seeing an Endo who works at a big adolescent care facility and its super hard to reach him. Which worries me to some degree. Whenever I ask him questions by email I dont receive any answers nor can I ever reach him by phone. I've only asked him like two questions over this time period. Is this how its supposed to work and am harassing my endo and I should let him be and have him just fill out prescriptions? I feel like he should be a little bit more involved or at least just touch bases with me.
My experience so far makes me think I should consider changing to a different endocrinologist. Any ideas please?
Any doctor should return patient calls in a timely manner. It's natural that you would have questions and part of the doctor's job is to answer them and allay any concerns you may have.
Mine answers emergency calls within minutes. Urgent before the end of the day. Routine questions within 36 hours. All physicians should answer or have someone there to aswer questions from patients. Sounds like he is over worked and could miss something important. If there are alternative Endo's I may be inclined to seek that option.
Neat that you have such good endocs there. Mine usually gave me an examination, prescriptions and a new appointment 3 Months later - no calls answered. I guess in an emergency I could have come to their office and would be heard, but mostly it was take it or leave it

I had the same experience with my recent endo. He only answered one question by e-mail and did not get back to me on the other ones. I'm still waiting...3 months later! ;D
