Title: Can I put two HRT patches on?
Post by: Just Ole Me on July 16, 2014, 10:00:57 PM
My endo doubled my Estrodial RX today. I use transdermal patches.   I forgot toask her if its ok to you two of the old patches until they are used up. I already paid for them. Since she doubled it I don't see why not. Anyone been told yes or no on this?  It's ok on oral meds  I know.

Hugs

I would ask you doctor or pharmacist that question.

I would think if the absorption rate of 2 is the same as the new one in a 24hr period they would say it should be OK.

Just ask is the safest. No need to risk over a simple phone call.

Since patches are supposed to be controlled release through the week (or whatever the patch is designed around) it should be safe but a call to the doctor or pharmacist should clear it up.

Another vote for ask the doctor, but I know my endo actually prescribes that way on purpose for people whose dose is higher than a single patch contains - she tells them to just wear two.

When my dose was doubled I was told to wear two until the new patches arrive. I expect it's fine but you should talk to a pharmacist to be sure. :)
