Title: Group has scent aware policy, person in group smells awful. Suggestions?
Post by: Shawn Sunshine on July 22, 2014, 03:46:52 AM
The TG group I am going to in Berkeley has been good for me so far, that is until a gal who shall remain nameless started coming to the group stinking to high heaven. First time they came I forgave them because they said they were homeless. They had all their bags with them and a huge backpack. I had in the past been homeless for a time but I never let myself smell that bad EVER. There is posted on the walls of the  building a scent aware policy, to respect those who might have allergy issues and a list of other problems. Do you think I should tell a administrator about this or try to ask the gal if she will please come in smelling nice and such? Or do I just have to endure the smell for 1 1/2 hours during our group? This gal has been coming a lot lately, but always smells the same every single time.

You could ask if she would like to borrow your shower or get her a place with bathing facilities. It probably wouldn't go over very well though.

I think the scent aware policy only is about perfumes and such since some people way over do it and.or others are allergic. My endo is allergic and asks you to wear unscented deodorant even.

Tell an Administrator. Don't involve yourself

sounds like the best idea, I can just contact the head person who oversees all the groups. Thanks.

Good call, that way you will not be targeted by disgruntled people.
