What's the consensus on how to say the following drug names?
Estradiol
Spironolactone
Finisteride
The way I say them is this:
Ess-trah-dial
Spi-ro-no-lac-tone (with the 'i' pronounced as in the word 'ink')
Fi-na-ster-ide
Thoughts?
I say them the Aussie way (ie, the right way)
Estra-dil
Spiro
That hair growth drug

I like that.
I suggested that Finasteride be labeled "Extreme Depression & Suicidal Thoughts In a Pill". but no one thought that was a good idea. I hated that stupid drug and what it did to me. I needed that about as much as I needed 1000 bee stings at once.

Like any good Australian it's shorten to one or two syllables max. Or described by what it does
I apologise if what I've written isn't a very good guide to my usage but I got sick of the phonetic alphabet when endlessly transcribing in college so I hope you can forgive me for not using it. I'm also probably very far from the consensus because I rarely could manage chemical pronunciation in my classes. :P
Anyhoo:
Est-rad-eye-ol (sometimes East-rad-eye-ol due to Oestrogen)
Spi-ron-O-lac-tone.
Fin-aster-eye-d
