Title: Out to my aunt
Post by: Literary X on July 28, 2014, 05:30:58 PM
I came out as agender to my aunt and got the worst response. She said, in a very huffy tone, "Don't you know you're a girl?! I've seen you naked, so I know you're a girl." (Umm, okay, but I don't really know what that has to do with anything.) I tried to explain and she said, "I won't believe that unless you're diagnosed by a therapist." Now she's going out of her way to call me my birth name, "she" and "girl." And it hurts.

Ewww. That was quite a thing to say to someone. So sorry this was the answer she gave. I hope future events will find a more receptive and open response.  :)

Maybe she'll come around. If I don't stop ranting, Jessica, you'll probably end up thinking I can't do anything but complain.

Wow.....  I'm so sorry you got that response.  :(

I hope she does come around, and that the rest of your coming out experience is much more smooth.

Sometimes you need to rant or vent, and everyone here probably understands that.

Sorry you got that response. I can empathize. Sometimes it just makes you want to not bother telling anyone :-X
