It has been 5 days since I came out to my wife! She has been VERY understanding and supportive, and also has given me a few reality checks by expressing her very valid concerns. I feel blessed to have such a beautiful and loving partner. I was really on the edge at this time last week and my therapist quickly pointed out that I would feel much better after talking to my wife about my struggle. I didn't really mean to come out as soon as I did, but my wife and I both agree that the moment couldn't have been better. I have my daily up's and downs, but I am truly grateful that she knows. I realize that there is never any 'undoing' the truth, no going back in the closet. We talked last night and I told her how I have moments of doubt and after cuddling with me for a while she smiled and looked me in the eye and said "I am sure that this is what you need to do, there is no doubt" I am trying to prepare myself for the inevitable up's and down's to come but today life is good. I see my therapist again this afternoon and I am excited to have so much to talk about.
I am very happy for you. You have no idea how rare a truly supportive spouse is.
Wishing you the best!
hugs,

I'll second this!
Ruth, you've hit the jackpot with your wife. There will be ups and downs, many of them, but going through it with someone supportive at your side makes it a whole lot easier. Don't forget to tell her how frickin' awesome she is!
I just love happy stories. I'm so glad for you that your wife is being so supportive. Life can be really good when you least expect it.
This must be a big step forward for you.
That's great. Keep in mind that many have found that initial support can waver once the reality settles in, hormones and presenting as a female begins. You need to be as supportive of her as you would want her to be of you as your transition is as much a journey for her.
You lucky, b****!
Make sure you tell her how awesome we all think she is! Some few of us have had some luck with that but few like you.
Now, don't push your luck. Both of you will have bad days over this. May you both be blessed not to have them at the same time. When she has one be supportive. When you have one don't take it out on her.
Happy for you truly. My wife stuck with me through many changes and remains my best friend and lover. It can happen, I wish you all the best on your journey.
Stevie
If I may add...I let her have her time to adjust, there are things I'd like to do as far as surgeries and we talk about it and I listen to her concerns. I've on promised and so has she. If you see old me and new me...well she's given more than taken. She is my treasure.
Thank you ladies for the well wishes. My wife is awesome and I have been letting her know how great she is. I'm having another great day so far today, I have my moments of doubt and fee but I understand that is normal for us. Just for disclosure, I'm not as new as my profile, I have been on for a couple of months but started a new profile with my new name. This place is great :)
I'm glad you've had a good start with your journey.
I hope it continues to go well for both of you!
