Title: Pain Relievers
Post by: Lucid on August 01, 2014, 11:56:30 PM
Alright, so I always forget to ask my doctor what pain relievers, if any, I should take when I get a headache.  I know aspirin and ibuprofen are no good to take with spiro, but what about tylenol/acetaminophen?  I'm sitting here with a blazing headache on a Friday night with no chance of getting a hold of my doctor until Tuesday.  If anyone has advice from their own doctor, I'd be very grateful.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, so apologies in advance.

I never asked and never received any instruction in regard to this either. I haven't had any trouble taking paracetamol. Hope your headache clears up!

Interactions are dosage dependent.  If you are having high doses of spiro, then the likelihood of an interaction with ibuprofen becomes more likely.

Being on low to medium dose, I have taken for short term pain relief:
Paracetamol
Ibuprofen
Voltaren

Usually I only take one dose in a 24 hr period to get me through and I rest.

What type of headache are you getting?

My doctor always says to take Tylenol. I have a back condition and take it by script 4 x a day along with a handful of other medications.

So that is my nickels worth.

No more Pennies here in Canada so that is my smallest change lol.
