I say second, because being honest with myself and the internal struggles I've faced for years as well as coming out to people in my life close to me was the step I went with first.
But today I will be calling a therapist and seeing if she would be a good fit for me as a regular therapist while I go through the process. Nervous, but also happy to be taking this (to me) large step. 90% of my friends already refer to me as Jenni, and the one I contacted is calling me as such, and it means a lot to me. I finally feel like after so long, I'm on the path of being myself.
I'm also thankful to the members of this site for both support and the resources available. Would not have found this therapist otherwise. :)
Awesome news! With luck, you'll enjoy the therapy - it's hard work at times, but ever so rewarding in the end.
As has been said many times Jenni that each step is a step closer to the end.
Glad you seem to be in a good place today. Enjoy these days and use them to help when you have the blahs.
These are your tools.
Hugs
Congrats. Going to therapy can definitely be nerve-wracking and anxiety inducing at first, but if you utilize the time as it's to be used, you'll be able to self-reflect and really find who you are in it. Remember that if the therapist isn't a good fit for you, find another one. You should be able to open up to your therapist and if you feel they are being condescending/difficult, then this is not helpful. Best of luck!
My therapist was Great! Definitely helped with the depression from GD. We got along fabulously and now my middle name - Melissa.
A good therapist will do wonders for you.
Wishing you the best!
