Title: Brow ridge... Very prominient
Post by: Auroramarianna on August 04, 2014, 01:22:20 PM
Hi girls.

Does brow ridge shrink while on HRT? I just wanted to know, because I think I kinda of have a very prominient one. I can't distinguish if it's slopped forehead or prominient brow bone, maybe it is both. I haven't been on HRT, and I'm so nervous, I just want to start it

Btw, I don't really if this is the proper category, but anyway.

Do you think my brow ridge is very prominient? Please be brutally honest, I won't mind.

My eyebrows are crazy mad, I know. I need to shape them again.

Thank you for reading,
xxxx

Hi Aurora

Your brow ridge is not so bad - reasonably male but very far from being "aaaaaaargh" provoking.

HRT won't make any difference to bone, unfortunately, although after some time on HRT, and with some luck, your face might plump up a little so that it's not so evident.

I fixed my brow bossing (and some other bits) with surgery, although with some reasonable makeup it was not really visible.  You can see it here on the forum:  https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,169753.0.html   (https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,169753.0.html)

From what I've read HRT won't do anything to help you with your brow ridge, my understanding is that there are some surgical options and then a friend recently told me that apparently it's possible to get botox injections above the brow which smooth things out and lift your eyebrow itself to create a more feminine look.

Thank you, Julia :) I will definitely check it out!

Thank you, Antonia! I do know that website, I really love it!

EDIT: I had no idea brow ridge could be countored with makeup  :o

Like others said, brow ridge doesn't change at all, since it's bone. However, why not try bangs (when you hair grows out of course)

I have a pretty prominent brow ridge, and bangs conceal it so well you wouldn't believe

I'm like a Neanderthal, so it might become a worry for me as well. I don't worry about it yet, since it'll be a while before I even try to pass. Need to get voice done first, because that's a way bigger tell for me than anything on my face. But we'll see if I need to do something about it as well. Although some people say that it's become less pronounced a feature since I started HRT.

Maybe glasses might help with hiding it as well?

I wear glasses, and they definitely help hiding brow ridge. Actually the ones Iwear seem to feminize my face, it seems so at least.

Auroramarianna,

I viewed the picture you included, and personally, I don't think your brow is bad at all.  Even if it were, I've been paying a lot of attention to foreheads -- since I  sadly have a male forehead -- and I've spotted some women who actually have somewhat of a male forehead but manage to look absolutely stunning.  If worse comes to worst, there's always bangs!

My brow is about like yours and I haven't had any issues with passing. I've seen cis-woman with more of a brow. I would prefer mine to be less pronounced, but it is working for me :)
