Title: Being short
Post by: Jace on August 06, 2014, 05:14:37 PM
So I know a lot of us short guys feel pretty insecure, at least I do. But I've been browsing the internet and I came across this forum.

http://www.->-bleeped-<-.com/r/short/?count=25&after=t3_2cm1zv

I haven't posted or anything, I'm not even on ->-bleeped-<-. But I've been lurking and it's nice to see other cis guys and girls complaining about their height. Some of the forum tends to be a bit negative but it has some good posts too.

I'm almost exactly 5'2. I've accepted it. The only thing I regret is not being able to reach things.

At least I'm alive. Wow, buddy? That's kind of a minimal idea of happiness, fulfillment, and any of those sorts of things. I am 5'1". It has never kept me from doing or being anything.

I'm about 5' 4.5". It kind of sucks but, I deal with it. Most of the dudes in my family are short anyway :^)! My girlfriend is 5' 8" and I get a little bitter sometimes but, mega height differences are cute! Especially if it's a small dude!

I had no idea some of the actors on there were so short. Seamus was one of my favorite characters in Harry Potter, nice to see we're the same height.

Height doesn't really bug me except at work where I need a stool to zone the top shelf. I think if I had another job it wouldn't matter at all.

I'm 5'2 and another FtM guy friend of mine is 5'2 too.
Don't worry, there are a lot of cis guys that are more or less our size.

I'm 5'3 or 5'4. I know quite a few cis guys my height. Not much can be done about it; don't sweat it.
Bruce Lee was 5'6 and 140 ish ;)

The only time I don't like being short is when I want to reach something and can't find something to step up on.

Its nice for many things though... like you actually do have leg room on an airplane.

I'm 5'5 though (grew from 5'4 on T... maybe i'm even taller now....), so I guess I'm somewhere in the middle of height.  I've known many guys my size though.

I have a complex about my height because I used to actually be taller than I am now... I've shrank over an inch in the last four years. I used to be about 5'5" and a quarter but now I'm just barely 5'4". I have Uncle Sam to thank for that... Carrying heavy rucksacks constantly and the impact of landings from being a paratrooper wrecked havoc on my joints.

I hate being short, but then again my father and brother are both only around 5'6"...

I definitely feel insecure about my height, I even made a post here to voice my concerns.   :(
Since then I've been gathering data to put my feelings into perspective. As for dating and women, I'm still pre-T and lesbian-ish, so I've been able to ask some women about how they really feel about short guys. Here's my analysis so far:

- the older the woman is, the less they care
- the more confidence and sense of self they have, the less they care
- the more vain they are, the more they care
- the idea of what is attractive is different depending on country/city. There are some societies and cultures where traits other than height are considered way more important

Looking back this is fairly obvious.
But you know, I'm thinking that if a girl cares about how tall I am, even if somehow I become 6' tall, that same girl would care that I'm ftm and wouldn't date me anyway.

I'm curious about how short / tall cis-guys feel about other guys who are short / tall.

5'2.5'' and hatin' my height like 50% of the time. It's a rare occasion that I feel very confident about myself that I don't even notice how short I am but when I do, it feels great. My girlfriend's taller than me but only by like half an inch.. we joke around and say we're a midget couple or that I'm her pocket boyfriend. xD

I did this, not from military work but from construction injuries and other stuff. I went from well over 5'7" to barely over 5'6" and I feel bad about how much it bothers me, considering that I'm overall still pretty lucky. I think I'm still at least as tall as my dad, which is some consolation.
