Is there a list of state by state laws regarding trans people and restroom use?
Most of these types of ordinances are written at the city/county/town/village level
so it might be easier to find out about individual localities of interest than to try to
compile an encyclopedia

Also on state levels, check out http://www.hrc.org/map/embed?topic_id=15 (http://www.hrc.org/map/embed?topic_id=15)
NJ is one of the states that has it on a state level for transgender individuals. (There are not that many that are on a state level.)
I am so confused by this thread and the conversations around rest room use, I live on the west coast of USA and have never been questioned about restroom use, since going full time I use only womans rest rooms and do not recall ever being questioned about it. I am unclear how anyone could expect me to use a male rest facility without risk to myself. I do go out a good bit and use the female showers after a swim or work out. seems so strange to think about removing my clothing in a room full of strange men... not to mention very unsafe. whom may have dreamed up such a foolish thought process

That's the thing, Jerri. It's a non-existent problem made up by the religious right to scare people. If you look like a woman, use the women's room. We want the same thing ciswomen want: to pee in relative piece.
