Today, Lisa Vogel published a statement to her personal Facebook account. The post was published alongside this photo and a list "demands."

The statement begins: "Many demands have been made of the Michigan Womyn's Music Festival ("Michfest") via the Equality Michigan call for a boycott launched July 28, 2014. We have a few demands of our own."

As I understand it it's more of a hostile environment problem that a direct ban. That's not addressed whatsoever, in my case you don't need to tell me twice, I can tell when I'm not welcome.

A local lesbian house has given me an open invitation(Yes! there is at least one in St Louis!) Grown women's pajama parties, come on down... That's not the vibe I get from Michfest.

It all sounds reasonable.

Until you realize that welcoming trans women, does not IN ANY WAY show "disrespect for the specific experience of being born and living as female in a patriarchal, misogynist world". Claiming no trans woman has ever been ejected while at the same time limiting their festival to those born and raised as women is disingenuous.

Amazing how hate is justified in our world.

I recall several years ago one of our Susan's members was ejected from that organization's meeting in the woods. There is a militant core that dislikes the very existence of trans women. Kind of strange behavior and not inclusive of all lesbian groups. A few years ago my spouse and I were invited to go on a lesbian only cruise ship. Didn't go, but it was a nice gesture by three lesbian women we were chatting with.
