Title: Silver Nitrate
Post by: mrs izzy on August 20, 2014, 04:23:11 PM
My take on silver nitrate. I have had a small spot deep at the dome of granulation that has been my only trouble area.

Already at my 1 year mark had a treatment of silver nitrate.

Today my GP looked and said it has gotten smaller but still is there. (little blood on end of dilator also has been showing the same)

So after so long and my body healing lets say things are way more,,,, pleasurable feeling inside then 5 months ago.

Today only 2 sticks needed. But OMG......

It was one of them moments that if it was not for the fact it is a treatment a little help from my husband could have been lets say a
Quotelite cigarette and bottle of wine moment
.
Hurts like fire but sure did make other things spark some at first.

Funny how our body reacts.

Whats your silver nitrate story.

Mine was mostly of the string of profanities under my breath until my gyno offered the tube of lidocaine that was going to be thrown out after use. 5 min of that and I didn't care anymore about silver nitrate.

I have a massive amount of granulation, the first silver nitrate treatment took a while, it was distressing but not particularly painful.
The next treatment is coming up, hopefully that'll also be tolerable...there is talk about having me do a laser treatment too. That'll be assessed soon. I assume as the tissues get healthier there will more pain.

I will agree this one was so much more painful then the last time and that time it was 5 sticks. Grrr.

I so wish you the best and it truly is not a fun treatment.

Hugs

I seem to have escaped granulation entirely for the time being. *smug*

I thought i also did but 1 spot in the depths of the dome of pleasure zone just will not heal on its own.

Just to dark and wet in there i guess lol.

I have some granulation tissue but my GP here in the UK has refused to treat it with silver nitrate, apparently they don't use it anymore so I am being prescribed a steroid cream today. My surgeon has said he will use silver nitrate when I go back for my check up next month  ???

Within my first year of post-op, I had to use a little silver nitrate for granulation around the edge of my clitoris, but it resolved pretty quickly.

it is nasty stuff for just a little dot on the end of a stick. Every country seems to have there own corks. Nasty but works.

Wish you speed in healing.

I had a bleeding granuloma and none of the MD's knew what to do about it, I thought I'd bleed to death drop by drop over time until one genius applied a little silver nitrate to the spot with a Q-Tip and it was fixed! It left me wondering why the rest of the MD's were so ignorant about the application and uses for it.

Well today my gyno introduced me to the joys of a silver nitrate stick solution inside my neo vagina. He runs a clinic for transgender patients (he is himself) so I have a good trust of what he is doing. He just forgot to tell me whether I should dilate tonight or not. Probably assuming I will unless I had said different.

The reason was to try to nix some granulation and small tear inside. The tear also harbouring some bacteria.

But for those who have yet to enjoy this experience lets just say that you will bleed more than you are used to / and with weird colored globs of tissue. And the value of your neo vagina will increase as it looks nicely silver colored...

Actually the most important thing is to remember the bleeding is a kind of cauterisation and is also entirely the same for Cis women who often have tears and scar tissue after child birth. So just don't plan any activities and allow bed rest. And absorbant pads.

Unfortunately I also had swelling around the clitoris (like a mini erectile episode) lasting a long time which also bled a lot when I had move the bowels. Hopefully just another set of stitches moving away. And lastly an external tear will be treated with lalugen plus cream to help skin healing.

Oh how I hate these episodes...

Yes I did not stop my normal schedule of dilations.

So joyful it is.

The second treatment did not happen, instead I am scheduled for a surgical procedure, laser ablation of the granulation. That sounds like fun.

The OBGYN did scrip a steroid cream called Clobetasol...that stuff has been a freaking miracle. It's cut pain and inflammation into a small fraction of what it was. Dilation has stopped being a crying experience. Hoping for healing moving forward.

I would say something pithy about it but I was under (spinal anesthesia) for it. It worked good though.

For a FYI the Clobetaasol is just used around entrance?

Yes, I cannot of course say doses. But the application area is primarily around within the inner labia.
