Katz, an out transsexual who performs spoken word as Athens Boys Choir, completed his student teaching in 2003 in the rural counties of Madison and Oglethorpe near Athens.
"I didn't really need to bother coming out because I'm a pretty obvious homo, plus they had me teaching step aerobics, which was a dead giveaway," Katz joked.
