Title: Bathrooms.
Post by: kariann330 on August 27, 2014, 10:26:34 AM
So the Duggar family is pushing for legislation that would prevent us from ever using the right bathrooms. Well just to really mess with them, how funny would it be if everyone randomly approached them in a bathroom and said that they were born the opposite gender....i can really see Michelle freaking out over that one lol

I don't think that would help at all. We have enough trouble being taken seriously.

Have you ever noticed how often cisgender people get things backwards?  A case in point here: as if we're a threat to them and they're not a threat to us.

The Duggar family lives in a glass house and should not throw stones.

Why not just put a unisex symbol on every bathroom in a non-permanent way? Something easily removed but also easy to place so that maybe, just maybe, people realize that the whole "segregated occasionally" bathroom situation is a manmade problem?

At work I use the men's room complete with urinals. We do not have partitions between the urinals. More and more people are now just going into the stalls and doing their #1 instead of whipping it out in plain view for all to see in the non-partitioned urinals. So why do we even need segregated bathrooms anymore? Everyone's using a private stall now anyway.

When I'm out with the kids, I go to the family restroom because I might need to take them. The family restroom is non-segregated as well.

Education and not retaliation.

FYI the religious right is running scared knowing congress is sitting on a discrimination bill that will offer protections for the gender identity. If passed they know they will have to stop there assaults on us due to the protection. ENDA

If anyone whats to really make a difference is contact your local congress or senator and request it is time for us to have human protection rights under the laws.

Each and everyone of your Representative have a email account and just pass this on to your friends and family and have the just stuff there email accounts every day.

That is the way to stop ones like the Mrs. Duggar and others.

We will over come.

A more serious threat is the state of jurisprudence.  As long as the EEOC inclusion of trans people in Title Seven holds sway, this sort of petty harassment isn't going anywhere.  If that changes, I'm moving to Canada or OZ.

ImagineKate, In those bathrooms with no separator between urinals it would be hard to relax enough to go with everyone seeing what you are doing.  I have seen some men's rooms in stadiums where there is an open gutter along the wall and the guys just pee into it.  Some guys seem to be able to pull it out and just go anywhere in front of everyone.
