What it says. I guess my man voice is coming along better than I think. I pass pretty well in public, in casual encounters, but not always in conversations w/ strangers, etc.
Chatting with the barber about fantasy football -- "Are the other guys in your league...?"
Yes. (https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fthefiringline.com%2Fforums%2Fimages%2Fsmilies%2Fbiggrin.gif&hash=fa2db8a2d15c338f95b7a2cbcb46a673a808a937)
It's awesome to hear things went well for you today at the barber! :D
It's an awesome feeling passing for the first time there :)
It sure is!!
great you passed in the barber shop which is a real male domain. I have going to a barber shop near campus where I go to school for almost a year now with no problems. How long you been on t?
I've been on T for just over six months. It feels like external changes are happening pretty slowly (I'm, er, a good bit older than average), so it's great to get this kind of affirmation that it really is happening.
It's also the first time I've ever enjoyed a conversation with any haircutter. I've always preferred the quiet ones... (https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fthefiringline.com%2Fforums%2Fimages%2Fsmilies%2Fcool.gif&hash=d4879c0267a356dff26cd86b0fa87ea42a6199e1)
That's fantastic Ty! I can only dream of that day, for now. I am pre anything and have to cut my own hair. I am usually assumed male - UNLESS I have to open my mouth! I'm grateful my voice is not extremely high but it's certainly not low enough to prevent those double takes and puzzled looks.
I'm really happy for you!
Thanks, J!
Oh, and... he also asked if I wanted my eyebrows trimmed. I couldn't resist saying yes (serious guy-in-barbershop experience, there), even though I really like the way they're getting all long and tangly. Congrats on passing! It is always a great feeling.
that's totally cool!
I was just at the barbershop and watched the other guys get asked about the eyebrow trim

I thought so. ;D
But I think next time I'll say, "Leave them, they remind me of my father."
Which is true.
Congrats!
On another note, I had no idea eyebrow trimming was a thing.

Me neither. Then again I rarely go to the barbershop. If I had thicker eyebrows maybe I'd try it but I barely have any so I'm gonna keep 'em safe :D
It's a geezer thing. It's not the thickness, so much, but there are hairs that just grow, and grow, and then they start curling around and looking sort of tangly... :icon_mrgreen:
It's sort of fierce-looking, actually.

If I brush my finger against the grain of my eyebrows, they kinda look like that except not as thick and long of course and not as extreme. xD My sister said I should go as a werewolf on Halloween one year and I won't have to wear special makeup, I can just brush back my eyebrows.
I love the barbershop. But I have never been asked about eyebrows. I would not agree to it since I like my big bushy eyebrows. Not quite like the character here though. :)

Yeah... I wouldn't do it again, Jay. But after seeing the barber do other guys' eyebrows, I thought "Just this once!"
It felt sort of weird, actually.
