alright, today i woke up to a call that offered me an appointment at a gender identity clinic in charing cross in 2 days, and since i've been waiting for nearly a year, i just couldn't drop it.
thing is, i live with un-accepting parents - my father has threatened to disown me if i go through with a transition, and my mother's not far behind. i started thinking about what i could actually do at this clinic. i can't start injections because the rate of the changes would be too quick and too easily noticeable, but i was wondering if i'd be able to take a low dosage of T gel instead? i would be hoping for minor changes, probably mainly mentality-wise, but i can't find any information on this specific aspect of gel. does it matter how low a dosage i take? will the changes still be obvious enough that my parents will inevitably notice? i honestly fear for my well-being if so, but the thought of waiting another year (or possibly more since i'm moving out of london in '15) kind of destroys me.
You can take a low dose on injections also. The changes will still happen. T changes seem to happen rather quickly compared to people starting on E. How quickly is variable to each individual as well as dosage. These are questions well worth asking at your appointment.

i most certainly will. i just don't want to give an impression i know nothing about something i express an interest in having.
low injection doses could be good, but i think it'd be much harder to hide the equipment and i'm nervous about how much will have changed over a year. though i suppose the same thing applies to gel too.
Some places have you go in for your shots. If you self inject, perhaps you have a friend who would let you store the T at their place. I keep all my shot stuff in a shaving kit. Unless your parents are very snoopy, that should be worth doing.

well, the clinic is nearly two hours away from where i live so i hope that won't be the case orz i can't afford such a travel each week haha.

I started out T with a very low T gel dose and the changes were gradual for me because I didn't want them to happen fast. I initially applied about a pea size amount of gel every night and then increased it bit by bit. My voice change didn't become noticeable to my mom (who is also unaccepting) didn't occur until about after 2 months. Everyone is different though.

that is good to know, thank you! this is something i'd definitely prefer.
although, i just started reading more about the charing cross clinic and apparently they don't prescribe hormones unless a person's name is legally changed so i probably won't be able to do anything anyway OTL ahh why.
