Title: HRT Timeline question
Post by: Wynternight on August 31, 2014, 03:58:14 PM
I know mileage varies but what can I expect to see changing first since starting HRT today? Is it possible to say? Will the mental changes be more noticeable early on or will there by physical changes that come first?

For me it was mental/emotional. Then breasts.

For me I started to feel a calmness in the first two weeks that I never felt before. Hard to describe but it feels very nice. I also noticed that I began to feel more clear and sharp in terms of critical thinking. Also, my mood has been overwhelmingly positive and I haven't noticed any swings.

As for physical, my skin began to feel softer after 3 weeks and facial hair growth slowed a bit. I'm just now starting to feel some breast tenderness.

I can't wait! Thank you. :)

How did you set you the ticker, Sarah? I'd like to add one.

I felt calm and content pretty much immediately, but that could have been just the emotional satisfaction of finally *doing* something.

I started to have breast buds and soreness on day 5.

I should have kept a journal, but I didn't.
Early on I had a few nights with mild hot flushes, but that settled pretty quickly as a steady level of E got established.  Mentally, dysphoria went pretty early.

As I was low dose, it took about 3 months before anything too substantial happened in the chest and hip areas.

I'm on low dose right now but will be asking to go up.

Interestingly enough I've had hot flashes for years due to being intersexed. Here's hoping they go away because hot flashes suck.

Try not to think about it or try & force things. You will feel better each day however it's a gradual very nice change for your body & your emotions. Good for you, enjoy GF.

Thank you. :D

Most changes I've noticed have been psychological, honestly... My experience in 1 month (minus 3 days)

I'm usually either irritated or way emotional.. I'm assuming it'll take a while for me to adapt and to learn to control myself in that respect... And some people have said my face is 'softer'...

Waiting anxiously for more changes! It really is being slow ._.

Within a few days I was in such a mentally calm place. Nearly all of the anxiety and depression I was going through went away with the right fuel in my system. After the first week two other things happened, morning attention stopped! and my nipples became tender. Around 3 weeks to a month I went sterile and my testes shrunk to half of their original size. Then my breasts finally started coming in along with noticeable skin changes & I could tell a lot was going on with my face. That was at a low dose which is half of what I take now.
