Hey everyone! So I came across this amazing article from GCN coming from a man called Justin who makes an argument for people who are gay and Christians.
Wow. I was floored by his essay. I'm not gay and just felt so much freedom and love coming from it anyways. Very solid stuff and lots of Biblical references. I'm very grateful for it. But it made me think, I wish there was something like this for trans Christians. Some of the things Justin talks about are very relevant for me personally but it's still not directed towards us really and doesn't cover things specific for trans people. Does anybody know of anything like this? Or maybe we can start discussing here about some of them if there aren't. I feel, for me, it's really important to have a solid foundation from the Bible regarding such a big part of my life.
Hi Evan!
I was on there earlier actually. :) Justin's Side A essay was really impressive I must agree from what I've seen. Ron's essay had some really great points too. If you join GCN, there is actually a sub forum for us there that you can join so that can be an option. If not, then feel free to discuss it here with other trans believers! transchristians.org is another website that I found very helpful in navigating my journey as a transgender Christian.
Thanks Malachite! Can I ask where the subforum on GCN is? I can't seem to find it.
No problem! You have to join the site first, look at all of the groups that are available, check the transgender one, and one of their moderators will contact you. :)
Awesome that's great thanks again!
I noticed (how did I not see this before lol) that Susan's does have some great info about scripture and being trans*. But I still have this one verse that hasn't been delved into and that's the Genesis one where God made man and woman. So far my only rebuttal to this is that it doesn't say He ONLY made man and woman and it's obvious there are variations seen by intersex people and Eunuchs. But then there's the whole, "God made you a girl so you must be a girl" thing. I don't really know what to say to that.
Well a pretty witty response would be to ask the person to show you the chapter and verse where it states "God made you a girl so you ARE a girl". I would also like to point out that your rebuttal will likely be based on your personal beliefs and views in your Christian walk. The most important thing is make sure you have the confirmation from God that this is the path you must walk. I think you might benefit from a thread I made here a while back called "A Purpose for Being Transgender?" https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,157865.0.html
If you've come to the conclusion that you believe your transgender for a reason, then you may be able to use John 9: 1-7 as an illustration that even in this fallen world, God can still work through people such as ourselves in a not-so-perfect situation if that makes sense.
