I started HRT on Sunday and I'm already feeling an emotional equilibrium I've never felt before. It's like the tempest in my head is finally calming and I don't feel so intensely dyphoric as I normally do. It's a wonderful feeling. I know the "new blush" feeling will wear off and this balance will be my new baselne so that's something to look forward to.
Congratulations. Starting hrt made me wonder just how I had ever lived without it. Suddenly no more dysphoria and a wonderful sense of peace and presence.
Just in case you were wondering, if you stop hrt, the old feelings will still be there.
Safe travels

Thank you, Aisla. I don't think I could stop. The thought of feeling the way I did before is terrifying and I don't think I would survive another round.
im glad you are finding a sense of peace a normal healthy balance of all hormones makes all the difference . women need a little testosterone too and that fluctuates when we need it the most .... when we are competing with others around us we need testosterone and women get a testosterone surge when they are placed in competitive social situations or when you need to be extra motivated or focused .
Congratulations!
Hi Winter! I don't know how you will feel about this, but my new blush feeling is just as strong as day one 9 months later! :) I am so glad you are feeling how you were meant to. :)
Winter,
For me bringing my hormonal balance into what I have always known was right and true, made the search for my authentic self possible, not the other way around. Getting my biochemistry right, was the necessary precursor to finding sanity. This was more than gender dysphoria, it included unreasonable fear, depression, and to a large degree emotional paralysis. Only then was I able to see far enough into a future of light to begin the discovery of the girl I call Julie.
To this amazing journey, welcome.
I bid you joy and peace,
Julie
Thank you all. Unfortunately my calm and level feeling went away three days after starting HRT and I went into a very deep depression that lasted days. I'm doing better but that equilibrium I first experienced really hasn't come back. I'm not sure what to do or where to go from here. I'm wondering how long I should be on the patches before raising my dose. I'm on a pretty low dose at this point in time.
HRT takes quite a while to build to a therapeutic level. They always start out with tiny doses. Some people get relief right away. I was on cloud nine for a while and then crashed a little until my T levels dropped by more than half and E levels approached a menopausal woman :P It took three months before I really began to feel right, and that was after my dosage had been increased twice.
It does get better,
Julie

Thank you, Julie. I think I'm going to ask for a raise in my dose on the next refill. I know the Spiro is definitely working as my BP is much lower and I void like crazy.
Ah to spend the night asleep without having to pee is but a remote dream  Even if Spiro is doing its job, T levels don't really begin to fall for a couple of months and for me there was still testosterone hanging around for more than six months.
Good luck getting a bit more of the girl juice.
Getting cold in Anchorage yet? We are still almost summerish, but the light will soon be flying south.

I find that I don't tend to get up to pee if I stop drinking water about an hour and a half before bed. Any later and I may wake up around 4 AM to go.
It's been chilly here a few nights- into the 40s and one night around 39. The daily/nightly highs have dropped by about 10 degrees over the past two weeks or so. The leaves are changing and falling and ducks have been flying off for the Winter for about two or three weeks. The days are getting shorter by over five minutes a day.
I always looked forward to the dark of the winter, with the aurora and silhouette of spruce trees. Skiing on the coastal trail, or getting drunk at Chilkoot Charlie's. Ah the memories of youth. Glad I survived, it was dicey sometimes.
