Title: Blood on exposed sutures.
Post by: FTMKyle on September 05, 2014, 06:57:36 PM
So I have an area on each scar where I can see the sutures, almost right in the center. I've left the sutures alone, figuring they will do their own thing in time. One day they broke in half probably dissolving, and I was able to pull the top part off easily, and I've been trimming the bottom part as it exposes itself. Now, I don't know if the sutures are catching on my shirt, or if it is normal, but sometimes there is just a tiny bit of blood. Has anyone experienced this? I've been putting antibiotic ointment on it just in case.

My husband used steri strips to help keep areas that popped stitched early.

Might help

I am 10 weeks post op. The stitch did not pop, it's just dissolving and worming it's way out of my chest a little every day. I've seen similar posts about it, so I am not too worried. I just haven't read any mention of blood. Again, it's not that much blood.

It is coming from inside you, do I assume blood would be not abnormal? I'd contact your surgeon if you're really worried about it.
