Title: Songs to sing to
Post by: CaseyD on September 05, 2014, 09:40:01 PM
From a discussion that took place on the IRC channel, singing is supposed to be a great way to transition a voice towards the female range. However, from the songs I listen to, idk...

Anyone have songs that help with transitioning a voice? Ones that as you sing, it helps with a more female voice?

I found that simpler melodies really helped a lot-ones that I can easily shift keys in.  I spent a lot of time working with Halajulah (Not the Cohen original, of course), a lot of songs by Antony and The Johnsons (Antony is transfeminine themself, which helps a lot)...Also some simpler soul songs, ones written for men but that allow for a more feminine tone.

This one helped me a lot.

:D Just kidding. I do love that song (and album, and band) though.

These two were a huge help. Mike Patton's vocals in Faith No More and Mr Bungle were a huge help too, believe it or not. Once I got the basics down with Conor & Jay. I was able to expand my female range with FNM and Bungle.
