You're in a casual social setting and you've just met somebody new. You've already gone over the basics--"What do you do for a living?" "How do you know the host?"--and have entered an awkward pause. What do you ask them about next?
---
My go-to phrase is usually along the lines of, "So...what kind of music are you into?" or "Have you heard of suchandsuch band?"
I ask them what their genitals look like.
lol, no, not really, but I should.
Whenever I need a go-to thing because a conversation starts to fade into awkwardness, I'll talk about/discuss/ask a question about something that is in view.
This is why I don't do social gatherings. I don't care to make conversation just for the sake of it. I'd just let the awkward silence settle in and hope they go away. :D
Depends.....manic phase or depressive phase.
I walk in like "Whaddup I got a big..." and then ask them what time the narwhal bacons.
Top or bottom?
