So from the time I was about 10 or 11 I had these feelings that I wanted to be a woman, I found this site back then but only now decided to post about it as I'm 21. Anyway I was just hoping to get some advice from people who have gone through this themselves. I was just wondering if its normal for someone to want to be a woman yet be pretty much solely attracted to women. I find women attractive but often feel like I want to be with a woman as another woman, not as a man. Second, outside of my small frame, im a relatively masculine guy, quite a bit of hair, broad shoulders, large adams apple ect, and I feel that if I ever did transition I would end up quite an ugly woman. So if anyone has any advice having gone through this yourself or knowing someone who has gone through it you would be of great help. Thanks

Hi Ashlen! Welcome to Susan's!
I think you'll find there are many trans women who are also sexually attracted to women. It doesn't make you any less trans. If you have a muscular frame I wouldn't worry too much as HRT usually takes care of that over time and you will lose bulk and gain body fat. First step is to start talking to a therapist who is skilled in gender issues to figure out what, if anything, you want to do at this stage. But please join in the conversation in the forum and ask questions, etc. :)
Welcome and I second the recommendation to see a gender therapist. They can help you to decide what you want to do, mainly by asking you questions to get you to really consider who you are/wish to be.
If you are worried about how you may end up looking - and who isn't - take a look at the before and after thread. There you will see some amazing changes that others have gone through. YMMV, of course, but it is a very encouraging thread to those of us just getting started.
Welcome to Susan's, Ashlen.

Welcome Welcome..!! ;)

I've discovered that this is not only normal among transwomen, but a large majority of transwomen are only attracted to women or are married to women. Gay men transitioning seems to be more rare than straight (even married) men.

This seems to be everybody's concern before transition. I haven't started hrt yet, but I have seen the results with others. Even so, the things you've mentioned can be taken care of without even being on hrt (trachea shave, laser hair removal, diet and exercise changes). I'd rather be an ugly woman than feel ugly as a man personally. I just find the female body to be much more beautiful and confidence will only enhance that beauty. So just be confident with whatever decision you make.
