I have been trying to create a more positive and peaceful outlook on life. I am off of the anti-depressants for good and I have found that doing some little things go a long way to making me feel wonderful. To often people tend to let things drag them down and do not take the time or energy to bring themselves back up. Eventually it will crush you and that is not a good thing.
What I have been doing:
Cleaning up the yard. Pulling up the driveway I feel a lot better just by seeing the nice, clean cut of the lawn and the removal of some dead trees.
Cleaning up the house. Waking up to a room that is not cluttered it a wonderful thing. I wake up, roll out of bed, and my feet land on a wonderful rug. No debris to step on or over to reach the vanity.
15 minutes AM exercise. Nothing hard. I stretch my legs, shoulders, arms, and back. Then I will do 50 trunk twists and a few sets of crunches. Afterwards I run in place for a few minutes. It is just enough to wake me up and make me feel energetic.
Small bit of pampering. I was given a couple of small things of scented bath soaps. I use them a couple times during the week. The lavender is wonderful at night time, right before I go to bed.
$5 simmer pot and $2 oil. Once or twice a week for twenty minutes is very nice and relaxing.
Learning new things. Right now I am trying to learn just a little bit on yoga (see the vids in the fitness area) and that really helps open up the body.
Reconnecting with things I like. Recently that means re-learning the eight fold path and re-reading the Dhammapada.
Barely any extra costs, which is necessary for me since I literally live penny to penny.
Sounds like a good thing. I have been trying to keep myself more upbeat doing just the things you have. Cleaning up my room of unecessary things and just thinking positive helps me tremendiously. Glad to hear your off the anti depressants. I was on them for a while but stopped not long ago and am glad of it. Keep thinking positive. All the things you describe is a good thing. ;)
