A couple guys at work were talking about this one woman they saw and they kept commenting on how much she looked like a man and making jokes about her. I was in the room while they were talking about her and I just sat there quiet but I honestly wanted to just scream at them be like why the <not allowed> does it matter? Who care wether or not they fit into your expectations of what a man/women really is. It's really pissing me off but I fear if I go off on a rant it will make it pretty clear to them that im about to go down they same path... Really screw this gender binary bull->-bleeped-<- i really cant deal with this anymore.. :'(
It sucks but you generally have to just sit there and pretend it doesn't bother you. You could call them out for insulting someone but if you get trans specific they will wonder why. I've been around groups of guys with guns who have made transphobic jokes and I just had to pretend it didn't bother me because after all I'm just a girl ;)
I'm not sure where you work but in a lot of places that kind of talk is illegal. I'd quietly point out that its not a work appropriate discussion n ask them nicely to cut it out
Unfortunately the world is full of ignorami, and you can't flip most of them. If you don't want to out yourself while you tell HR about a potentially hostile work environment (sorry, IDK what country/state you're in), then these are just people you need to avoid.
Umm, pee in their coffee? (Kidding- really ;). I have a very warped sense of humor.)
