Just received my new driver's license with a nice "F" on it - at least NY makes gender change easy enough - name change will have to wait a while longer
be well everyone
Jennifer
Congrats on the only "F" you ever really wanted!! ;D I bet you feel great!! ^-^
You are absolutely correct on both counts Jessica - now if only they could get good pictures on the license
be well everyone
Jennifer
Congratulations! I want that "F" on my D/L too. All I need is a form filled out by my doctor that says I've undergone "appropriate treatment" to change my gender, but I want my name changed at the same time.
As for my D/L picture, it's horrid! I've been renewing online for 15 years and they use the same picture, yuk!
Just got mine too with the "F" and of course I don't like the picture :P
It's nice not to be carrying around a memento of my old life and it will save outing me every time i'm asked for it.
the picture on my old license was about 20 years old - at least now it looks a little like me since I no longer have short hair and a beard - next year full time and name change
be well
jennifer
Glad licences in my state in Australia don't have gender markers on them. Got my new passport recently though, that now has an 'F' on it.

A little hint too, you can use your new passport to swap gender markers with the ATO too. It's not strictly according to the rules ( they state they still require surgery ) , but nobody seems to be any of the wiser with an 'F' on the passport. :P
I have female on my id from New York (it expires in 2017) and kinda scared to get one here in Alaska thinking they would want paperwork of me having the surgery lol

Just get a passport with the correct gender marker. User the passport and NY DL to get Alaska ID. Don't show them your birth certificate since it's not needed as a passport trumps a birth certificate. This way Alaska will just see a woman getting a new driver's license from another state. Nothing required to prove anything other than existing ID. No court order, no letters or proof needed.

Fabulous thanks
Congratulations! What a wonderful feeling!
Hello Ladies,
Congrats, Jennifer. I know the feeling and it's one of the best feelings I've ever felt, to see my sex as female, with the name I've used for the virtually the whole time I've been living full time other than when I've had to show my official name and gender, which would almost bring me to tears it would feel so claustrophobic and humiliating.
I'll show you mine, which I just got in the mail on August 23rd, but actually had the paperwork finished on August 15th, the day before my 60th birthday, in both the Ventura Superior Court, then the Ca. DMV. Now my big question is.......

I haven't gotten my birth certificate changed yet, which supposedly isn't that hard to do in California, but I'm waiting for my SSI name to be changed, along with my gender. I did it toward the end of August at the SSI office, but haven't received my paperwork yet. I was going off the track again, but the question is, for my U.S. Passport, (I've never had one) do I need my new SSI and birth certificate or is just my new Ca. Driver's license with Miranda Catherine Thomson (F) good enough to get my passport. I need to get some medical tests and one of two letters from my psychologist before I schedule GRS, but I definitely have most of my papers lined up for surgery, but need my passport before anything. God bless, Mira
For the name change, you will need both your birth cert and your court order to get your passport, unless you have a birth cert that is totally changed.
Congratulations, Jennifer!
Miranda, you do not need SRS to get a passport with a female gender marker. These links may help you on that.
