Title: are you happy, unhappy or indifferent by the rate of facial change from HRT
Post by: stephaniec on September 16, 2014, 06:31:26 PM
I'm pretty happy for the most part, but I wish it was  10 times faster.

It's only been a couple of months for me, but so far so good.  Not much of a change - might just be in my head - and it's sssssslllllooooooowwwwwwwwwwwww.  Wish it was faster, so right now I'm indifferent.  It's still early days for me.

I suppose I am happy with the facial changes so far as a result of HRT. The changes are glacial and gradual, but having taken a fair few photos over the many months it has been possible for me to notice the subtle changes throughout this timeline.

In a way I am glad the changes have been slow as I recently found it hard to accept the morphed face I saw in the mirror really was me, especially once the make up was applied.

I'd be hard pressed to say what has changed with my face - I imagine something has, even before I went full time almost six months ago people were starting to say they thought I looked younger. Anyway, I am happy but not sure about what exactly.

So far, so good?  Whatever I get has been/is/will be appreciated.

I'm just happy that most people have me pegged for a girl now.  Who knew?

Apart from a maybe lighter skin tone and less saggy skin on my eyelids, all of my facial changes come from weight loss, facial hair removal and keeping my eyebrows shaped. My face has the kind of issues that HRT can't correct (bone and cartilage structure)

If the effects of HRT are supposed to be better skin and a layer of subdermal fat that would soften facial features, I'm sorry but HRT has done nothing for me. Unless fat redistribution starts working for me immediatily, i'm still riding the FFS wagon.

It's been nine years since I began HRT. Oh my gosh, I am unrecognizable. Pass 100% of the time, as long as I use my femme voice. Also, skin care is extremely important. I don't wear makeup, because it's better for my skin. I still pass without it. I want FFS, but I don't know if I need it.

Mega super duper happy with my results so far. I look like my younger sister except a bit older, which feels great.

When i look at picture of myself from over 10 years ago,  i realize oh gawd i look completely different. Obviously hrt has been working. My face has softened and i look younger.

I'm indifferent to it. I know that there are changes happening and that since I started HRT my face has changed a bit, but at the same time I feel like there hasn't been much and am probably going to be looking into FFS in the next maybe year or so. I haven't began trying make up or anything yet as I still have to be in guy mode for the most part, so maybe that'll change things a bit for me.

If I look at old pictures I can't recognise myself

Its took a few years for mine to change a lot, but I did finally go from hideous to not that ugly.  Initially I was antsy, but I've grown a bit indifferent to it now and have mostly accepted my lot.

I'm happy with what I've gotten in roughly 24 months of HRT but I wish there was more too. Even so, people are seeing me as more and more female regularly so that means something. And I've even been told I look like my mom, which to me is a compliment because my mom was a pretty woman.

I *was* happy; the changes were fairly dramatic and quite quick, at first. I looked 10 years younger!

Oddly, although I don't think I look less feminine precisely, I did lose the youthful glow. :( 5 years in, I'm back to looking more or less my real age. I'm not thrilled about that, though I guess it's pure vanity.

I wasn't expecting much to happen but apparently it did anyway. Other people had to point it out though. The big changes were hair management (facial hair removal and eyebrow waxing/plucking) but I guess a lot of the subtle things have helped too. Been told that my face has rounded a bit and cheeks are fuller. Skin is probably lighter and softer too. Since I didn't expect much to begin with, yeah I'm quite happy with the rate of change. :)

Kind of indifferent.

Frankly, HRT changed all that it could change, so I can't fault it for not doing its job. It softened my features greatly, made my skin brighter, gave me round cheeks, made my eyes look more opened and expressive, and made my smile shine.

But it's not enough. It can't change the bones, and the bones are still driving me insane. I hate having a big chin, I hate having a big forehead, I hate having a nose with a wide upper bridge and a big bump in the middle, and I hate having a receded hairline. And hormones have barely changed these things one bit, and they still make me dysphoric, and I still hate them. So yeah... I just wish that hormones could do more. I wish so much that they could change my bones too...

And, well, not all of us can ever hope to afford FFS, so I'm pretty much stuck.

I'm inclined to say I'm not happy with the rate of changes...since I haven't gotten anything particularly noticeable yet, but I've only been on HRT for about 3 weeks so...that's to be expected :P I know it takes at least until the 3 month mark to see significant changes, but still, I'm just so looking forward to the day when I can stop worrying myself to death about whether or not HRT will do anything for me.

I'm not unhappy with how long it takes for the changes to take place, I just wish it were gradual rather than being punctuated the way it is, so that at least I could see some daily progress. But oh well...I'm still happy to be on them :)

I am coming up on the 4 month mark for my hormones, I THINK I see a little rounding out of my cheeks but it is hard to tell, silly me for not taking any pics before I started but I hated the male face so much!

I HAVE noticed a slight reduction in the rate of growth of the little facial hair I have left after my laser treatment and I think the outer cheek hair and under my jaw feels a little softer.

All in all it's a mixed bag, I want more but I have noticed some changes so I should just be grateful!  ;)

It's hard for me to say. I had a complete face/neck lift & eye lid surgery 3 months ago & my face has almost healed up 100%. My face has always  kind of feminine anyway. I've looked at pics of my mother when she was around my age & I am very slimiar. I guess the HRT has softened my face some. My complation has greatly improved & that is so very nice. Perhaps what's left of my facial hair has slowed in growth quite a bit. So I guess I'm happy with the results.

Hmm I'm not sure if I had changed much but probably just a softer complexion is all. But I am getting called a female now and then and more often recently so I can't complain at all :3

At 8 months and almost 3 weeks I have had quite a few facial changes I'm very happy with. My eyelids have lost their curtain, my brow has shrank, my chin has narrowed and my cheeks have filled in some also my nose has shrank a little. These changes are still ongoing and I'm hoping for more filling in of my cheeks. I'm very happy with the changes so far, but they haven't yet been enough to take FFS off the table for some time in the future.

2.5 weeks. This morning my therapist, who hasn't seen me since the day HRT started, said that my face looked rounder and she had never seen me so happy, relaxed, and at ease.

I'm dubious about the "rounder" part, but happy to take the "happy, relaxed, and at ease." If HRT does nothing else for me I still consider it successful.
