Title: Doctor says stop estrogen before surgery
Post by: Amy1988 on September 16, 2014, 08:34:46 PM
Scheduled for surgery in about 3 weeks and my doctor told me to stop estrogen now but I can continue to take spiro.  I'm happy about the surgery, brow lift and trachea shave, but really sad about stopping the estrogen.  So here's the question: will I see any reversal of the effects of estrogen?  I have gotten some really nice results in just 3 months with estrogen and I don't want to lose what I have gained.  BTW in another post I was going to get VFS but when I dug into it more I got really scared and decided against it until they perfect the procedure.  Any so I decided to spend the money on a brow lift and trachea shave.

I had some loss of the effects, but it was temporary. It did take most of a year to regain, however that had far more to do with issues of dosage (post-SRS my then-HRT doctor put me on a dose that was so low the serum E lab could not detect any after months on it.)

It was emotionally difficult at the time but no issue for me now.

Stopping estrogen for six weeks didn't hurt me. But the four weeks off spiro before I got the T-factories removed was hell. Body hair started sprouting in place where it had been gone, and dark whiskers came back to places where laser had wiped them out.

Yes, Interesting^^___^^. My SRS surgeon said he wants me to stop my estrogen at least 3 weeks prior to surgery, but said I could continue with my Spiro and Avodart. It would be good to know why your surgeon asked you to stop Spiro?
