I was wondering on average how often you need to see an Endo. I think I recall hearing that it is monthly for the first 6 months followed by twice a year. Is that right?
I see mine every three months with blood work every six. :)
Was it more frequent initially or has it always been that way?
This varies. Your endo will likely start off with a monthly, then quarterly and then usually six monthly visit. You can, and should, initiate visits at any time if you experience something unexpected, are concerned, have questions. The best relationship with your endo is one where you partner with them, share your feelings, fears, objectives, emotional and physical results. As ymmv and we may have different objectives, 'need for speed' and reactions to hrt the collaboration is important and very powerful. Hrt is powerful stuff!

It will depend on how much they want to keep an eye on your metabolism. Mine was every six weeks initially. Then every three months. Last time I saw him he said to see him again in six months!
Yeah that's what I was afraid of. That initial period is going to suck. I have to go to Atlanta for an Endo. Fortunately I can stay with my parents, but its a 5 hour drive.
I'm every three months from the get go.
Every 3 months at the VA with blood work 2 weeks before. My GYN is every 6 months she uses my VA blood work and tells me if I need something else. By the middle of next year I will be seeing her a lot more often :)
Every 3 months for my HRT doctor with blood work done the week before so she has the results when I meet up with her.
once a year for me
My Endo will be doing blood work every 3 months for the first year. Not sure about afterwards. I'm fine with this as I want to make sure everything is going well for me.
My Doctor (not an endo) required a blood work up just prior to visit once every month for the first three months. At my third visit she scheduled my next appointment (and blood work up) three months later, and stated if all is still well that from that point on it would be twice a year. Two hour drive to Seattle. Dani
I started off every three months (monthly is unusual!), down to every six after the first year. She wanted to go back to every three months post-op for a year - since it was similar to starting HRT for the first time, in terms of making sure it was safe for my body - then back to every six months.
I'm switching to just using my GP after this next endo appt., I think. I'm 2+ years post-op and taking a dose in the range he prescribes to menopausal cis women, and my risk factors shouldn't be any higher than theirs at this point. And I'm sick of waiting an hour or more for the endo each time. :)
My first endo had me go every 3 months and then bumped it up to 6 months after 4 visits or so. My current endo is having me come in once every two weeks, but this is for injections. Luckily, I have no copay for my visits and they are very close, so it doesn't bother or effect me.
Talk to the Endo, they may be able to work something out where some of the visits are done by the primary care provider instead. I'm nearly a 4 hour drive from my Endo and due to my kidney's he would have required every 6 week visits to start with. Instead 3 months apart.

my first followup was at 3 months, subsequent visits are all 6 months.
First two follow up visits were 3 months then 6 months, all with blood work. I saw him in June and I will be seeing him Monday for injections, I hope.
