Title: How long does it take to receive amended BC? - Minnesota
Post by: GQjoey on September 21, 2014, 07:25:45 PM
I sent in my ACT letter from my surgeon to have my gender changed on my birth certificate about a month in a half ago. I know it takes a while, but I'm getting a little nervous because I need to get a passport for a trip coming up in February. I've never had a passport before, but know it takes a while to receive that as well without paying extra fees. Anyone in Minnesota that has amended their BC?

That letter should suffice for getting a correct passport as well even if the BC does not match (indeed there are a few states that won't even change the BC gender). You'll just have to bring/submit more documentation (the original BC, the name change order, and the surgeon's letter) when you apply for the passport.
