Title: Am i the only one that hates makeup?
Post by: Jaz650 on September 21, 2014, 11:12:23 PM
I hate makeup! First off I don't need it to pass, maybe to look prettier, but not to pass. Secondly, I hate having to take it off at the end of the day, or to work out. It's so freaking time consuming. I went on a date a couple days ago without makeup, and the guy thought I was extremely cute, he's still texting me. I believe it is more important on working on having naturally flawless skin, this way I'll look ten times greater after FFS! BUT I DON'T NEED MAKEUP! it's to oily, and just feels terrible on your skin. Does anyone else hate makeup?

Nope I love it. I can be someone totally different or slightly different or use minimum and be me. But I love makeup. Have since I was in my early early teens. Sorry Jaz. You're still young and fresh faced but wait until you are around 28 or 29 and you will eventually like too probably. It really can enhance your natural beauty.

Me too.  For me, it makes all the difference between "shaven ape in a dress" and "plausibly cis".  Also, eyeliner and purple sparkly eyeshadow make my eyes look all pretty and I just feel better about myself when I see them like that.

I love the smokey eye look. Especially with just a tiny bit of green to accent my eyes and make them pop out. Hazel's kind of dull but with a little green, they accentuate the hazels to more of a green. Not to mention eyeliner and mascara. Holy crap. It can make the difference between night and day. Not to mention all the flaws it can conceal and... Well I ain't even gonna' go there but more or less can make the difference between night and day. Or the darkness and light. ;) But I love, love, love makeup. That is the whole thing about makeup, it just really accentuates the beauty you already have.

I do.

I think it's a massive annoyance, too expensive and just a complete pain in the ass. I messed around with that crap a long time ago and discovered that it just wasn't for me. I haven't bothered with it ever since.

I know plenty of lesbians who don't own any makeup.   Hell, my straight cister and mother don't either.  I, on the other hand, am a proud lipstick lesbian.  OK, I'm bi/pan, but still very much into my hot wife.

It's a necessity for me too.  No makeup, no passing.

I can't wait until I get to a point where makeup isn't necessary, because then I'd be using it not as a disguise, but as something to add a little color and depth to an already-female face.  Makeup, when applied well, can make all the difference between looking good and looking really good.  (Sadly, all too often makeup is badly or inappropriately applied - and I'm raising my own hand and owning up to that mistake.)

But it's expensive, time-consuming, messy, and the point at which it's considered some kind of requirement for being female, rather than being an option, is the point at which it becomes a massive pain in the ass for me.

I probably go through not even $15 worth of makeup per month these days.  I found what cheap stuff works well on me and it takes me less than 5 minutes to put on now.   It takes me longer to brush out my hair in the morning.

At first I was spending a lot more money experimenting with stuff that would never have worked with my coloring and ended up looking a bit too goth and not terribly "age appropriate" (LOL).  It used to take me 20 minutes or more to get it right, but now I can do it faster than my wife who has been doing it for 30+ years.

Well this is just me but you can take a cute girl, or even an average looking girl trans or cis, and put a little makeup on her and then she turns into a beauty. Sorry but I love makeup. It's almost like a psychological thing, I'm OK without it but with it, watch out. I guess it is more of a confidence thing. Not just for passing but also confidence. ???

I kinda like makeup myself  :icon_chick:  I don't wear a lot of it and don't wear it all the time, the only thing really important to me is that it is applied in a tasteful manner

I wouldn't say I hate it, but I'm too lazy to put in the work 99% of the time. :) Now I only wear it for job interviews and other special occasions (unless lip gloss counts, b/c I get *such* terrible chapped lips otherwise).

Thankfully I've been blessed with clear smooth skin and virtually no pores (according to the woman that lasered my face), plus the laser worked really well, so I can get away with not using foundation. Most of the time I go without makeup but sometimes I put on a touch of eyeliner now that I found one that I really like. If my boyfriend and I are going out somewhere (not just grocery shopping or the gas station), I'll maybe add more eyeliner, some under-eye concealer, and lip shimmer, but that's about it.

Do you believe you pass without it? I wore makeup to pass for nine years, only to find out I pass without it. It's all in one's head. I challenge everyone who thinks they need makeup to pass, to go out in your most feminine attire and hair. Update this thread on your experience. I want the guy I marry to know what I look like before the wedding.

Why do you have challenge us to do that?  You do look pretty from your avatar pic.  But make up is  personal preference. I'd have to upload a pic of mine for you to be the judge of how I look without make up. I'll be 44 on Friday. No FFS, just HRT, sacrifice, and good genes.

But not everyone is blessed with youthful external beauty my friend.  I'm sure had I transitioned at age 20, instead of age 40 I'd look a lot better, but we do what we can, and mostly what we want.

BTW, most women compliment me on my look and make up. Guys dig me.

When I first started using makeup it made my face itch all the time but after trial and error with different brands I have found some that I can wear without the itching, I love to wear it because I can hide my freckles when I want to go out and look pretty.

I posted a photo in a thread here what I look like without makeup, and I probably pass to someone else, sometimes, even usually to myself, but why wonder and why worry? I've loved makeup for as long as I can remember, around 58 years ago, when I was two and KNEW I was a girl. It's been an unchanging memory my entire life, and my oldest memory, period. I so clearly remember being into my mom's makeup as much as possible, and she let me do it till my dad put his foot down and made her stop me at four years old. I put it on every single morning, even if I don't think I'll leave the house that day. I don't wear pants, either.....ever! I was only able to wear dresses occasionally for 56 years and I love them too. I live and take care of my mom, who's 86, and deep down she's always been my role model. Now that she can publicly and privately call me and know me as her daughter, she's even more my role model than ever. She still gets her hair colored and done and still does her makeup every single day, without fail. I see myself the same way. If you look at my avatar, I'd say I'm a girly girl and proud of it.

Are you flat-chested and not getting enough attention?  Tired of breast forms?  Can't afford an expensive augmentation?  Wanna get laid?

You need SPRAY-ON BOOBS!!!  More fun for your boyfriend, girlfriend and even that creepy pervert at the grocery store!

Nope, just checked.  Even with my hair done up, cute earrings and a cute dress, I just look like a linebacker in a dress at the end of the day.  I think I need all the visual cues I can muster to beat over people's skulls that I'm a chick.  At the end of the day, I'm still 6'2", built like a tank, still have leftover "guy muscles" (c'mon orchi, hurry up!) and apparently in desperate need of some more electrolysis.

Pass the makeup bag!  I think I need to aim for just short of "clown whore" today.  *le sigh*

Maybe after electrolysis and time on HRT. However if you feel makeup helps you go for it. I personally can't stand makeup. People call me ma'am 100% of the time. It also might be that I don't even remember I am transgender 99.9 % of the time.  I love passing without makeup! I just really need my skin flawless, any suggestions?

I love eyeliner. I love love LURV IT! Im a sucker for a girl with amazing eyeliner around her eyes. I love how I look with it on too.
Also I wouldn't mind wearing a lip gloss maybe? To be truthful I've never really experimented with make up yet. I'm kinda hesitant about all that stuff till I move out. My family wouldn't take well to it.

I have a love / hate relationship with makeup. I do not need it (thanks to my parents and great skin genes) and on weekends or depending on the weekday I go without.  I always moisturize though and when I do wear makeup I remove it before retiring and I do moisturize again before hitting the bed. I would recommend a clarisonic cleaning device to everyone - wow! what a difference in the cleansing and your skin will thank you for it.

Sometimes I think makeup is a bother and at other times, it just adds that bit of dressiness to what I'm wearing. I can wear the grungiest clothes but if my makeup is perfection and my purse is a fabulous one, I am on top of the world!

Shrek here, when your old and look like a dried green prune not much helps.Tried joint compound one time but it cracked too. Instead just use some shade of red lipstick kinda gives me a Christmasy look and does not take to long to put on if my hand would stop shaking.

I have never used make up before and don't intend on using it, but possibly if I got to the stage of full transition, it would be a necessity in order to be passable.

For a while in the early days concealer was my mental lifeline.  Once beard reduction and skin tone changes progressed enough, I found I didn't want to bother with it any longer, pass or not.  There are a few obvious physical queues makeup won't hide and dressing them up with makeup isn't going to make much difference to them.  FFS will tackle that but I'm preparing myself mentally for its limits.  It's fair to let anyone be 'more beautiful' via makeup if they want but it kinda bothers me that society often measures femininity by the 'polished look' rather than the underlying natural traits.  I'd certainly prefer a girlfriend who goes without.

In other words, is my transition success being measured by a physical conversion or by how 'craftily' I apply makeup?  I'm not ruling out using makeup at times for fun and occasions but it's not really Me anyway.  There's much more important things I'll need to spend my hard-earned cash on than painting on a face.

I like makeup, but go with the less is more approach, and go for more of a natural look.  I usually don't wear foundation during the day, and it doesn't take long to add a little bronzer, under eye concealer, mascara, and lipstick.

Ok, so I may be in the minority here. But really isn't that one of the best perks of being a woman is the makeup? Not to mention nail polish. I don't know. I hear a lot of you girls saying you don't like it and it is such a pain. I love it. I have loved it since I was  13 or 14 and figured out it could totally transform me from drab to something else depending on how much I use. :embarrassed: But seriously I love it and if tomorrow if I woke up and no makeup in the world, I would probably die. I love makeup and what it does foe me but I am such a girly girl. OMG even, lesbian I am a lipstick lesbian. God I'm such a girl. ::) But I wouldn't have it any other way. ;) Done tried it and it didn't work.

Girl you look incredible in your avatar so you can afford to hate make up! I like how I look when I do it decent, but I get very  frustrated with it sometimes. I am pre everything so I need it still.....

I have to second Jess here!  I spent my whole adolescence longing to wear makeup, and secretly trying to fix myself up in the bathroom using cheap stuff.

Makeup can be a pain - I accept - but for me, makeup is an extension to the way I dress, and I vary it depending on my mood, my clothes, and my work/social life.  I don't think I need it to pass, and once I've been on HRT for 18 months or so this will become more obvious (or not!)  Meantime, I pop it on each day, and I don't begrudge the time since I see it as part of my identity as a woman.

You're not going to need makeup for long! You have a beautiful face, cute hair, and nice skin in your avatar pic. Just electrolysis and hrt will go a long way for you. My goal has always been looking female 24/7, and I do. I still want FFS to enhance my beauty, but I recommend to all transsexuals to worry more about skin care than makeup. Plus the wrong makeup can ruin your skin. At least go mineral.

Also, eat healthy and exercise. The healthier your inside, the radiant your outside! ;)

That's interesting... I can deal with some light makeup, but I dread having to basically paint my face every day. Lipstick and nail polish I don't mind (and I like) but foundation, eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara, etc... ugh. Too much work. I see lots of women going without it though.

I want to get my hairline lowered from the sides. Does anyone know if people are born with their hairline, or is it an effect of puberty?

Thirded!!  :)

I like the way make-up makes me look. But it's a lot of work.

I guess that's how most people feel, though. I'm always worried I can't do anything because it will mess up my make-up.

I lovelovelove makeup. So much so I used to be a beauty editor, along with other editorial duties. I received boxes of makeup and moisturizers every day. I don't need it to pass at all. I pass fine without it. But, I like it. A lot. My BF hates it. He says i don't need it, look pretty without it, and it's a waste of cash. I spent $10 on a tube of blush. It's my fave. Another ten on a tube of foundation. Apparently, Maybelinne is fond of tubes these days. It's really simple and convenient. But I don't do it for anyone but myself. I don't do it to feel feminine. I do it for one reason: I like it and I have no reason why.

When i lived as a guy makeup on a woman was both uncomfortable and fascinating to me.  I did not want to kiss anyone that was wearing lipstick and preferred natural appearing women without any makeup.  funny thing is that when I allowed myself to play, lipstick and nail polish quickly became part of my routine presentation.  I have become decidedly more girly than the women I was once attracted to.  Clearly who we are and who we love can be very different?

Make up for play yes, feeling required to "put on my face" before leaving the house would be too far for this girl.

I'm with Jess42 on this. For me putting on makeup and painting my nails especially, is the most exhilarating feeling. I remember having mine done by a mature woman at 5 years of age and I was hooked on it even then. If only she knew the little girl inside she liberated that day. As I grew older and became a "man" my love for the forbidden rush and feel only grew and grew until I finally accepted that it could be denied nor forbidden any longer. Now that I identify as a "woman," like Jess I would die if it was once again taken away from me. :)

I only use eyeliner and masquera (I'm an emo so I need those). Nothing else cause I pass without makeup too.

At 35 my skin is still youthful and flawless because I take care of it and stay out of the sun.

I can't wait for FFS i hope it will be worth it

Maybe after electrolysis and time on HRT. However if you feel makeup helps you go for it. I personally can't stand makeup. People call me ma'am 100% of the time. It also might be that I don't even remember I am transgender 99.9 % of the time.  I love passing without makeup! I just really need my skin flawless, any suggestions?
I also get ma'am 100% of the time too and never think about my gender at all. My identity is cis female. :) Prolly why people hated me in the trans community around here lol
As for how to achieve flawless skin, do not go out in the sun a lot. Use moisturiser and sunscreen. Wear hats and stuff and don't get much sun between 10am - 5pm from May to November. At least in Ontario Canada that's the case. The sun is a wrinkle and skin damaging machine!

Fortunately I pass without makeup even right after an electrolysis session. (Thankfully those are becoming less frequent with the few white hairs I have left.) I don't wear it every day, but I enjoy it and have fun with it. Special occasions, going out dancing, yes I usually wear it, but it's not needed to run to the grocery store. I look at it as a fun thing and not a chore. When I do wear it, I like the natural look, where it looks like I'm not wearing makeup with subtle colors and soft blends. This look pleases me the most. I also only wear mineral based makeup.

My wife on the other hand can't stand most makeup. (occasionally she will wear mineral based makeup.) She prefers not to wear it at all and it has nothing to do with her being gender fluid. Even when she feel extremely feminine, it's not a requirement for her.

I'm not a spring chicken and even though I have pretty nice skin for my age a little makeup evens/helps things out. Putting it on and cleaning it off is just a part of being a female.

Now that my beard shadow is gone I usually just wear mascara if I'm leaving the apartment and maybe a bit of nude lip liner. It feels great to have skin that can breathe. Although I do like to glam myself up a bit on special occasions or maybe on the weekend sometimes. I do tint my eyebrows to make them darker too. That and the mascara really makes my blue eyes pop.

I love makeup.  I don't need it to pass, yet I choose to spend a full hour every morning putting a face on.  I look forward to any day when I have even more time to spend on makeup.

Personally I never fell for the whole misconception you need it to female, it seems like to some its a godly cure to their imperfections but to me its meh. Some lip gloss to keep my lips happy is all i need :D.
