Just wanted to let you all know. I am choosing to stay homeless for a short while, so I can save money and have enough for a deposit for rent here in San Francisco. I was going to have a trans girl roommate, but she went somewhere else. So to save money and afford also some hair removal treatments, I am sleeping in the forest, with a sleeping bag and pillows and bug spray. I have a YMCA membership so i can clean and exercise there as well as do a lot of other things. I will be getting a storage or perhaps a super tiny office space, so i can have clothing racks and space for important things i cant afford to lose.
Its not what I want, but I honestly at the moment feel its what I need. Besides I enjoy the company of the owls and squirrels.
Im also going to work on my voice acting and comic book/screenplay writing while I can, its another thing I must do or I will feel like i wasted my life and talents. Will try to convert the storage or small office into a makeshift recording studio.
I have looked at other options but they all eat my money for the month. Just cant rent right now.
Stay safe, please let someone you trust know where you are and have a daily check in with them at regular time.
Please stay safe; San Fran is so terribly expensive to live in (even more than here in Vancouver.) Are you sure the forested areas are a good idea? We've had a lot of issues of violence in our parkland areas. You probably have already visited it, but consider browsing http://www.->-bleeped-<-.com/r/homeless before departing to give you a heads up on problems in your area.
Keep us updated when you get a chance to let us know you are okay :)
Yes when I first came here, it was one of the places i just happened to visit, and as it turns out is safe and mostly quiet, moms bring there kids to the grassy area 150 feet from me. Theres a restroom thats open in the day. The park workers seem to know I am here and are fine with it it seems. But its just till November or so. I do check in, always go to the ymca or library or church, always doing something every day where people know me. I text my mom and other friends also.
Echoing Ms Grace.
Just to pitch my .1 cent (it's not even .2), I've spent a couple weeks living out of my truck. It's actually not bad, particularly if you can work out a deal to put it on private land. It keeps you out of the weather and insects and you can store some stuff in it. Plus you can lock people out. Truck stops are a life saver when it comes to showers and laundry too. What are you planning to do for food?
well I have $900 or so each month to work with, plus i go to food banks. Im ok there. But I mean $900 for everything. Not just food.
Yes, but you're going to be homeless. Where will you keep your food? How will you keep it without a fridge or cook it without a stove/microwave? The dishes?
Please take care. If you want pm me to chat. I'm sure you'll have a lot of time on you. God bless you sweetie!
Idk if you can or not but i just got financed for a very cheap van because i am in the same situation and will be living in it. It is crazy cheaper than rent and it feels more protected.
Either way I wish you the best and please stay safe
It's a legitimate choice. I wish you the best. Stay safe and make friends. Be warm, and be well.
thanks all, im doing ok, met with the wellness cordinator here at the ymca, who is ftm actually, and we talked he knows my situation, and totally understands and is going to help me get fit at least and will check in with him and my other wellness coach Leah.
What I do for food btw, is eat fresh salads at safeway or foods that dont have to be cooked. Or have been cooked , because occasionally I need a hot meal. Things got better for October, will have an extra $189 or so to add to the food budget. I have a storage space I will be renting there, can store at least non perishables there.
