It's just so much more comfortable to me & always has been. My legs get cold some but I can always wear stockings or hose. Pants or shorts are so restricting & uncomfortable.

I am not ready for 'prime time', ala going out in public, BUT I absolutely LOVE the feel of a skirt! I don't have any dresses, but the feeling would be the same.
Some of the skirts I have are not meant for old women like me and I realize I have to dress my age :-\ (or at least part of it ::)) but it just is such a different feeling. Sometimes when sitting, those naughty knees want to wander but I'm trying to train them to behave.
I pretty much almost always do. But then again when the opportunity is available for me to be out in the real world as the real me, I am going to go for what brings me the most joy. Though I do wear jeans, mostly for working around the house or a quick run to the store

A friend of mine reckons that when I am full time, she sees me as a dress and skirt girl...and I agree.
I like skirts, love dresses but because I like to keep the few dresses I have in nice condition and I ride a bicycle to get about town most often I tend to wear jeans
No show boating unless the occasion calls for it, just sensible average girl ways of thinking kinda stuff going on here
Before I had a roommate, I used to wear them all the time around my apartment- skirt and a tshirt or a dress ; tey're so comfortable and free feeling

For those skirt lovers who love to ride bikes there is always the penny trick you can do. Ive tried it a few times and it works pretty well (my main source of transportation is on a bike)

haven't worn pants for a year now. thanks to lack of funds I have a limited wardrobe(two skirts, one dress, and about six girly shirts in addition to a lounger i wear around the house) but I tend to wear a cartoon wardrobe anyhow so that doesn't bother me much.

I wear skirts and dresses most of the time, but I do mix in jeans and shorts a bit. The strong winds and cold here result in jeans and pants being necessities at some point.
They are really the only things I wear now. Only a cute guy who cared for me could get me out of them! ;D

I am full time me. I wear a skirt as much as I can. Unfortunately, it's not that often as I work in a laboratory where pants offer protection from a chemical spill.
I don't own a dress but will be getting one when I get down to 180. It is reward I promised myself.

I wear a dress every single day, without fail. I wore pants for 57 years, and only had chances few and far between to do otherwise. I have probably 10 pairs of pants, all female, but I have a different dress for every other day of the month. I've been a size 10 or Medium for at least 2 1/2 years, so I've had quite a few chances to get new ones. I love shopping for dresses. I think the dress I'm wearing in my avatar photo is really gorgeous, and I got that at Kohl's. Most of them are from Ross, Kohl's, or Penney's.

Wow, that's a trip! I never noticed the guitar being left handed in the photo, because in the real world it's right, unfortunately. I'm very, very left handed, but was born legally blind in my left eye and though I can see certain things, it's not and never has been even nearly well enough to read, and certainly not well enough to aim, so I learned to shoot right handed. Shoot pool right handed too, and holding the guitar right handed seemed natural for the beginning. I've been talking about switching for decades and playing left handed. When I dream about playing I'm always playing left-handed! I need to just do it. The truth is, though, I've hardly played at all since transitioning full time, first because I always have long nails. Second, I've never been happy with my playing, and third, I'm pretty happy 90% of the time now, and I wrote songs coming from my anger and depression. I have a bunch of songs that once you know about me being TG, it's impossible to not get the intense sadness or the connection. I know I should start playing again, but I've basically decided that I'm not going to play unless it's as a leftie girl from now on. And I LOVE MY NAILS!!!!!!!!

I hope you pick it back up and get that left hand going soon. Guitar has been a large part of the last 10 years of my life. I cant sing and play at the same time. I'm self taught. Youtube videos and tabletures. I know more than the basics now. But just enough to convey emotion through the strings. I know what you mean about getting the connection though.
Dresses and skirts? I'm still really early in my coming out. I think I like them well enough. I have a jean miniskirt that I stole from my wife that I absolutely adore. Her dresses are just a bit too snug up top for me though. I hope that if/when I go through HRT that my upper quarter slims down just a little. My military years weren't nice to my girlish figure :( Love my jeans though! :D

LOL. Its funny 'cause I notice hair, clothes, makeup and guitars. It's just something when you play with one for so long that you pick up naturally. So you took the picture in the mirror? That is the only way it can look left and be a righty. I do investigate the paranormal so I tend to pick up o things in pics "cause I spend soooooooo much time looking at pics and video. Sometimes way too much time if I am trying to figure out if it is evidence or BS. Usually I call it BS if it is not something that is without a doubt possible evidence.
OMG I used to love my nails but I gotta' keep 'em short because I still play. I can paint 'em but Orianthi, Lzzy Hale and other female guitarists keep their nails short too. Special occasions, I can always glue the fake ones on and look good. It really sux 'cause my nails are thick and healthy and I have had them about 1/2 inch or more over the tips of my fingers and no breakage or anything.

i love wearing short dresses or skirts as I love to show off my legs..and the love the feeling of slight breeze blowing on my freshly shaven legs while wearing pantyhose and feeling a breeze blowing up my skirt.
I recall often thinking when I was about 5 or 6 (and in years beyond) that if I could just wear skirts or dresses all the time then I would.
These days I sometimes wear pants based on necessity (physical activity, cold weather, etc.) but I do go out of my way to wear skirts/dresses especially in nice weather. It's just about always preferable.
I love skirts. One of the best things about transition. so freeing after years of heavy, sweaty jeans weighed down with phone, keys and wallet.
Even though I am mostly closet, I love wearing both skirts and dresses. The freedom is exhilarating and the feel both relaxing and sensuous. In the summer bare legs and in the winter hose for warmth. I don't own any dresses, but "borrow" them from my SO when she is not using them :).
If anyone can assist me with how to post pictures, I'd be glad to post a few for show and tell.
Thrift stores like Goodwill Industries have thousands of very nice dresses & many in larger sizes. They are usually just so inexpensive, $5-10.
I much prefer skirts to boot cut jeans and loose trousers.
I'm not full time, so I wear jeans out in public most of the time. I can't wait until I'm ready to go out in skirts, because I love them! I'm wearing a skirt right now, like I usually do while at home. Dresses don't seem to work as well on me, but maybe that will change after a bit of time with hrt.
Okay, here's a question.....How many of us who wear dresses wear a slip when our dresses or skirt reveal too much of our, uh, anatomy? I don't really like to, but to please my mom I do. They're really soft and feminine, but can add heat. Some of the newer dresses I've bought in the last year have built in slips.
I adore wearing skirts and dresses. Love all the great materials that they are made off which feel so good and comfortable.

That's funny. I used to always wear a nice slip under a dress however over the years I've almost stopped. As we know most dresses are lined however I miss the nice feel of a slip underneath. It's time to go shopping. Thank you GF. It was always hard to match the lenght of the slip to the lenght of the skirt as I rememeber. They only looked nice together if they were both almost the same lenght. And the color of the slip was important, white or black to match the dress color.
I'm full time now and I love my skirts! When I first got to dress, I was thrilled and went on a thrift store shopping spree. When I showed my wife she said, "You dress like a 13 yo girl! Women of our age have to dress appropriately. You're not leaving the house dressed like that, young lady!"
With some coaching, my wardrobe is now more age-appropriate. I've scored a number of cute skirts, from just above the knee to long and in between. I prefer rayon skirts because they feel so soft on my skin and they're light and airy. I'm a shopaholic and have got quite good at homing in on what I like in thrift stores.
Several of my "cis-ters" have remarked on my nice finds and wanted to go thrift store shopping with me. I'm always up for shopping!
Closeted here but I do love skirts and dresses. Moreso dresses than skirts.

I love skirts! I like wearing dresses also but i dont usually fill them out the way i would like where as with a skirt i can pair a flattering top with them, mix and match, so many combinations!

Most of mine have either a lining, built in slip or half slip or come with a removable slip :icon_chick: I do have a couple of slips in my lingerie drawer in case I need one though
I dress up nice for work because of my job level and I typically have to interact with a lot of different people. Most of my peers will usually wear nice slacks and I frequently do as well. But I have to say that I am about 80% skirt or dress and once in a while some nice slacks, especially now that the cold weather is coming.
On the weekends thought I rarely dress up nice for anything. In fact if most people ran into me they would think I was some pauper who appeared from nowhere :) at home I am all about comfort, sweat pants and pajamas :)
Zumbagirl, That was so nice of you to also comment. I'm going through my closet to clean out dresses that I do not like or ever wear & I'm going shopping soon since fall & winter are finally here. My area never gets very cold so dresses feel great.
Unfortunately I am mostly unable to wear what I would like. But when I can I wear tights under my track pants (I like the feeling of constriction ) but given the choice I would be in a skirt or dress most of the time.

I love skirts, so much more freedom of movement and comfort. I scored an awesome awesome one last week thrift shopping. It's that heavy-bouncy type fabric that I love and best of all it fit perfectly. I had to guess what size it was since the tag was mostly illegible :) The pinstripe one I picked up though was pretty loose though.. win some loose some ;D

I like a smart skirt suit for business. I feel really good in the right outfit.
Dresses for occasions are a real lift. High heels and matching accessories. What joy!
But for practicality most of the time is pants/jeans.
A flowy skirt is great for the beach, though.

I like wearing pants, too. Especially cute pants and things like that. But dresses and skirts are adorable! I also really like candy coloured tutus!
I also love dresses and skirts as after so many years living in purgatory, I find wearing a dress just above the knee or slightly shorter or a skirt and top especially liberating. I am lucky as I live in Victoria Australia and in winter I can wear a dress or skirt with leggings or tights and in summer go with bare legs although I prefer to wear 7 denier open toe panty hose or stockings.

I absolutely adore skirts and dresses. I actually love how they feel and look.
And I know that this might sound strange, but in our current society, only woman can wear them without judgement. I feel that is something I have earned by going down this path.
I wear skirts around 94% of my free time, dresses and pants make up the remainder, based on circumstances. At work I have an assigned female uniform.
I prefer both and when younger I loved to wear jumpers.
I don't really like either and generally avoid situations where it may be socially expected to wear dresses or skirts. I have a whole bunch of long skirts, but wear them maybe once a month...if that. Sometimes I will go 8 or 9 months without ever wearing a skirt.
I love skirts and dresses! I tend towards slightly below the knee but a very good natal female friend is slowly encouraging me to go with shorter skirts, just above the knee.
And while I do love dresses, I absolutely love the ability to combine skirts and blouses into a wide array of clothing options.

They are so much more liberating than pants! I even found a wedding dress that the local thrift store threw away, & I put that on. I don't really like dresses or skirts. Maybe to go out I will wear when I'm on HRT but I really loooove leggings with shorts and skinny jeans. So I'll probably end up wearing those more.
I love my mini hem sleeveless/halter sun dresses. They're my favorite thing to wear. I do wear a lot of shorts and tank top/halters/cami's, but my dresses are my fav. I like skirts too as long as they're a short hem and flair out. It's usually warm where I live, but during the few months when it's chily a pair of leggings under my dress or skirt does the trick perfectly.
Though I rarely wear long dresses, I can do without the slip. Because of my weirdness "down there" I've never had to 'tuck' or anything like that. As long as I'm wearing panties, no one can tell I'm different down there unless they look really closely -and no one! will be doing that til after SRS!

Pants and shorts have just been such a pain. At first they just didn't fit my body right, now they fit much better but I still have to worry about the crotch area so I just don't wear them. One of the side benefits of my surgery is that I will wear them more.
Allie is right though, wearing a dress or skirt does make you stand out a little. I struggle with trying to not appear overdressed all the time. It is harder to get away with wearing a dress than a skirt but it can be done. Especially Sunday afternoon. ;D No one needs to know that I haven't been to church in almost 30 years, so where I live I can wear almost any of my dresses or skirts then and not be out of place. Funny thing is the boots that help me blend over the cooler months through the week will earn me stares Sunday. Another strange phenomenon is that white bobos with a plain skirt and blouse somehow makes me a nurse, which completely baffles me. Nice dress/skirt without being too dressy with the right flats and I am miraculously a real estate agent. I don't know why people think any of that but they consistently do. I still stand out but I try to minimize it as much as possible.
One thing that almost annoys me. Last fall I bought 2 dresses at 90% off plus my friends discount because she works there. It ended up with me paying $11 each instead of $130 something. They are sleeveless and only come to the knee but they fit perfectly so I had to buy them right? They are the same exact cut but one is black and one has a black, red and white stripe pattern. Both I wore over the winter once or twice with the right color hose, shoes and sweaters(have to be bold sometimes to find out what works)but I kept looking forward to wearing them over the summer. Summer came and the stripe one was fine, no stares or comments but the black one my boyfriend complained about right away, said that it was too flirty or too overdressed or something. Grrr! I think it looks good on me and I get all kinds of compliments. Men stare sure but everyone does and when a girl comments on how good it looks I always ask, "So you don't think it is too dressy?" They always say, no, that it is perfect. I don't know what to think. Should I not wear the black one?
Anyway, yep, I wear dresses and skirts almost exclusively. :)
I hate frumpy but 1. I live in grunge city Seattle. 2. I've always felt I was a misgendered super model. 3. I love looking at my improving female form, so I wear bodycon dresses around the house. It has been said that being my age and dressing like this is not consistent with others in my age bracket.

(see avatar) I hate that the people around me dress down so much. I don't want to be the only one and be conspicuous. Don't dress to stand out like a sore thumb if you want to blend in, right? I'm totally a punk/grunge kind of girl and have legs that are awesome for "those" kind of skirts. Skirts are my preference but I do own a couple of dresses, and the trip pants are not going anywhere either

I love wearing both and favor skirts a little, especially maxi-skirts. Some of my clients have offices in warehouse environments so wearing a skirt or dress is not always practical. However when I'm going to be a client in an office building, I like to take advantage of that :)
