Title: may be stupid but it matters to me
Post by: patrick1967 on September 28, 2014, 03:19:30 PM
Ok I know that in the larger picture this little thing means nothing but to me it is important.  My closest friends know I'm trans. I'm pre everything n present rl as the bio female I physically am. Yes behaviors, speech etc have changed as well as hair etc but everyone thinks I am just butch.

Part of my process in this journey has been the creation of a male character in an online sim. There I am liked n respected as the guy I present as. I came out a month ago to my OL so n he has been fantastic. We are working through the RL feelings in regards to intimacy but still together n loved.

I find myself in a position where because of my relationships w prominent community members n organizations I have an opportunity to make a difference. There are times when jokes get questionable n the community is not well represented in the larger groups.  My SO is willing to take the flack but I'm not sure about giving up the one place where I am treated as wholly male. Any suggestions.

Lol Jessica.  I should have clarified. You all are great n I am so glad I found here.

I mean the only place (other than my trans groups)

Are you waiting for HRT or something else before really coming out? Job situation, stuff like that or is it just wanting to avoid public exposure like stealth living?

As far as RL goes the people i care to have know right now know. Money prohibits any action right now n until I can make some changes its just not practical on a wider scale.

But that question is independent of the original one

As far as you being a visible presence. Well, that is something only you can decide. I decided that stealth was not for me as anyone with a computer can find out about any of us in a couple of seconds. I personally decided to be a visible representative for the trans community any way I could. Of course this was after I had gone full time. Some people accept the role and some would rather not be involved. I will say though if no one gets involved we will go nowhere. The outspoken members of the trans community in the past faced even more adversary that we do yet they made it possible for us to be more accepted and have new freedoms by their efforts. You just have to do what you feel in your heart.  :)
