After graduating college my daughter came to my house to live for a year until she found a job. She finally found one 300 miles away and leaves in a couple of weeks. During that time there were some close calls where she almost saw me fully dressed. (She suspects I CD but I don't think she KNOWS.)
I have only been walked in on twice. Both times I was speechless. After all, what do you say to a roommate or wife that comes home unexpectedly and sees you dressed?
On one night where I was sitting on the porch fully dressed, she walked right in front of me 5 feet away. Fortunately it was very dark and she never looked up or saw me. My heart stopped. As I was scurrying inside I contemplated, what would/should I say if she saw me. My first thought was "Does this skirt make my legs look fat?". I even chuckled to myself. Maybe a bit of humor would help.
What have you said or would you say in such a situation?

OR
Do I have something on my chin? ;D
I would suspect she saw a lot more than you think but chose not to say anything at the time. At night your peripheral vision is better than your direct on vision so I would say yes even if it was dark she seen you.If it had been me and she said something I would have said ,honey please sit down I have something we really need to talk about. Then hoped she would have accepted that and it would have led to a meaningful conversation about what you are dealing with in your life.
I had something similar with my youngest daughter (45 ) I am sure she suspected for years but never mentioned it.She was the third person I came out to. First reaction was an emphatic no way , but her body language said , I already know, all I did was verify it. Oh well want a cup of coffee ?
I think sitting down to talk might be a good idea, but so far we have not spoken about it. I think she knows from seeing stuff (she went into my bathroom for some aspirin one time), but has never seen me. One thing about my daughter, she is very heads down and oblivious to all around her. And it was very dark. I had been out there a while and could barely see her. I live in a rural area with no lights, moon, or stars. But I could see that she never looked at me. If she had noticed me peripherally, I think she would have turned to look.

Great thread, Jen!
My daughter was fully aware of my dressing from about age 12 or so. She and I, while having typical parent/child ups and downs have always been pretty close and remain so to this day.
However, at certain times in the past she gave definite signals which indicated she was a bit troubled over it all. WHen she came home from back east after a few years (her early 20s) I took her to lunch and we had a great discussion over lunch about everything and at one point she asked me if I still dressed and I told her no. I could tell she was relieved. (This was during one of my manly purges.)
A couple weeks ago I invited her to drinks after work. I showed her a pic of me dressed with my kitty sleeping on my lap and told her this was who I was. I wanted her to know. She's 31 now and I was really hoping that her life's experiences would have helped prepare her for a moment like this. I was right. The entire conversation went very well.
I cried, she cried. And we both laughed. And she said "You look better as woman now than you did back then." Later that night she sent me a text out of the blue, "Thanks for the after hours drinks, Dad. I love you no matter what."
I cried again.
Back to the humorous spirit of the original topic........
She see's you dressed and you say we have to talk, the stove is broken! ;D
On the humorous side, This sort of reminds me of my absolutely fav Far Side cartoon from years ago.
