Hi everybody,
I've had a consultation with Dr. Bart van der Van in Belgium, and was wondering if anybody had had experience with him, and how they thought he was for FFS surgery? His prices were reasonable & money was not my concern. Facial Team in Marbella Spain is being considered.
He proposed surgery that I knew I already needed, so no surprises, and I had expected this to be done in two stages so he could lower my hairline by 6 cm with his tissue expander.
1st stage
Placement of expander for expander assisted hairline lowering
Rhinoplasty
Jaw angle reduction and chin recontouring
Liplift
euros 10,600
2nd stage
Forehead recontouring, hairline recountouring and browlift
Adams apple reduction
euros 8,400
Total 19,000 euros
Many thanks,
Soph'

Yes I had a consultation in Aug with Dr Bart and to me he was the most up front.
What made my mind up for me,besides his excellent work, was his honesty he did not try and sell me procedures I did not need.
I have researched and had consults with most of the surgeons in the world.
For the price and quality of work and his integrity he is my final chose .
I so comfortable with him.
And not to down play any other surgeon there are a lot of top tier Dr's available out there.
Dr Bart was just my final chose.

The expander is not really well proven. He has done only a few surgeries with it. It may be associated with a larger and discomfort.

As a former patient who went through quite a remarkable transformation with Dr VdV in 2011 and 2012 (also in two surgeries given the amount of work required), I agree with Lara that you should be very careful about the expander. I didn't do this myself but know of one girl who had a lot of problems with the procedure back in autumn 2012. She went through very severe pain and after a few weeks, under too much pressure, one of her incisions burst open requiring an emergency "repair".
She might have had some responsibility for this outcome by not listening to her body enough but, before confirming the procedure, I suggest you ask Bart for the names of some people who did it over the last year and ask them how it went
Apart from that, as is clear in a testimonial that I left on his web site (Donna Oct 2012), I could never have transitioned comfortably without the very agressive work Bart did for me and I also particularly appreciated the quality of our interactions. For me he did everything he could to insure I got the results I wanted.
Wishing you all the best!
Donna
I realised this would cause lots of discomfort when it was filled,. 800mL is quite a lot and I had considered stopping or slowing down when discomfort was too much. Also I was concerned how I would sleep because he now inserts this at the back of the skull if I am correct.
I know a girl who's doing the expander assisted hairline lowering. She's only a couple of weeks away from the op to lower the line, she Has had headaches but I think that's obvious you would get them, but hers got bad enough so she mentioned it to Dr Bart and he told her to slow down the increase and they pushed the date back a couple of weeks. So long you speak up you will be ok x
