The T parts just an assumption since most trans guys do t get a lot of hair prior to starting it.. except me dreadfully. Im not on anything but I've always been incredible hairy(which I hate sadly cause I know some people would kill for it.. Sorry) I had huge sideburns that went from my ear to my jawline growing up and soon as I turned 14 I started shaving it off but.. Now it's starting to grow out much faster and harder. Idk what to do to get my face smoother longer should I try straight razor? But then I really don't want bumps so.. I've been going nuts over it anyways advice appreciated.
Can you wax your sideburns?
Are you always using a fresh blade? I like to use disposable razors sometimes because they're cheap and I have a fresh blade every time. That way, I get a closer shave. Also, I make sure to shave with the grain first, and then go back and shave against the grain. Besides that, idk what to tell you.
I like Arch's suggestion to wax. That will keep the hair off for longer.
Was hoping for something less painful.. But I could try if nothing else works and dude it's not just my sideburns it grows everywhere but my chin one time at a pediatricians office the A hole wanted to test to Testosterone level cause I had a happy trail on my stomach lol i do yeah I use the cheap two bladed disposable ones usually for few times then I get a new one. What exactlys against the grain mean? Up or down? I have no idea what direction my hair grows in..
Correct me if I am wrong but I believe facial hair grows outwards (think a like a round clock, where the arrow points - that's the general direction your hair grows out)
That's what I thought but I googled shaving tips and supposively you shave in the direction your hair grows that tells you whether you should shave upward or down. Or it could be bs i don't really know ha
I find it amusing that you didn't ask the MTF girls, since we almost invariably have a lot more experience with shaving facial hair. Shave during or immediately after a nice hot shower, so your hair is at its softest. If you don't have time for one, put a hot, wet rag over your the area you need to shave for a couple of minutes. Shave down (with the grain) on the first run, then up after applying fresh shaving cream/gel/soap/whatever. When you do start T, and it starts becoming thicker and coarser, you'll find it helpful to experiment with different facial expressions that stretch the skin for the closest shave possible. This is especially true around the mouth. Around the sideburns, with your razor in dominant hand, use your other hand to pull upward on your skin while you shave up (after shaving down, of course.) Regarding straight razors, I've used them, and found that while they do have a certain "extra-manly" appeal to them (if that's what floats your boat,) they don't work any better than any other disposable kind, and without a lot of practice, they do a worse job.
Okay I am gonna follow that step by step tomorrow and see if it works anything that least me without visible stubble for more than a day after shaving is a success! Thank you and well i didn't know if it would have been appropriate or not :\
If you don't like facial hair and you're this hairy before T, you may have some rough times coming. Trust me...I grew my first full beard my sophomore year of high school. So I know about being hairy.
With very thick facial hair, getting a really close shave every day is an uphill battle at best, and a losing proposition at worst. So you may need to come to terms with it and just accept that it's part of being a guy.
I know it's.. When I do start I'm definitely open to getting it lasered off honestly. I've been hairy all my life so if I did get rid of it I wouldn't miss it
I don't think the majority of us would take any offense whatsoever. Let me put it this way: If your car breaks down, and you need it fixed well and in a hurry, would you rather consult a retired mechanic, or a friend with the same car? I may be ready to retire, baby boi, but I'm still happy to help. That'll be $250. ;)
Ha I see your point ma'm :]

That's a good point. If I have any questions... alas, I have a beard like a 13 year old. :)

I thought of lasering as well because I also hated being hairy pre-T and now I have to shave every day. But what I would like to know is if I were to continue taking T would it come back (at new areas)?
Just wanted to say thanks for all the tips guys and girls. The hot wet rag (I hate hot showers) worked wonders!

I know that Micah from Neutrois Nonsense says that each time he goes back on T (he does low dose and cycles off and on), facial hair will begin to come in on additional places, so yes.

Also our MtF sisters have to use a T blocker before/during/after beard removal or else they just waste their money, since it will come back as long as T is dominant in their systems.

Are you not on T yet!? Your picture makes you look cis, if I'm being honest.
Also.. I'm a fellow hairy pre-t guy haha. I bought beard trimmers (hopefully starting t on Monday, so I got some things I'd need) and used it on my chin. The next day there was already stubble starting back... We're going to have a lot of fun on t.... :-\
No I'm not man I just have an angular face, my father's basically an ape in terms of body hair and testosterone fueled rages so I think that's where I get it from haha. Good luck bro! I think for guys like us it's best to be prepared. I'm pretty poor right now but once I can afford it I'm definitely gonna invest in a straight razor kit to maximize my shave.

I bought a Philips Norelco 6948XL for around $50 and it's amazing. It literally takes 5-10 seconds to shave and then you're done. Once you're able to, I'd recommend investing in one. They also last for ages.
Ah I'm scared of those types I feel like they lead to those permanent hair dots? On your face that make it seem like you can never shave close enough. Idk if that makes sense to you lol. In a perfect world I'd get a straight or safety razor kit from birchbox that site has some sweet gear.

Ok, well, I used to be a guy on T, so I have a fair bit of experience with scraping the mung off my face.
Here's the razor:

the blades (fairly cost efective):

the brush:

easy to use shaving cream:

The disposables are ok, but if you want a close shave, you should use a safety razor. Don't be fooled by the "safety" part. You can cut yourself pretty good with one of those, but compared to a straight razor, they are quite safe. I use (still, unfortunately) a three pass shave, once with the direction of hair, once opposite, and once across. So that would be do a complete shave each time, different direction. Don't press, let the razor glide on you skin. It takes some practice to get the correct blade angle.
I use this as an aftershave:

and often I follow that with a facial lotion.
hope this helps a bit,
hugs
