Theoretical question & advice welcome...
If a person (MTF) is about 6yrs post-SRS, has been on maintenance Estradiol that whole time (plus before the SRS), and has legally changed documents (name, birth certificate, etc.)...
...and then decide they want to revert, "detransition" as it were, not necessarily back to "male" exactly but more to "androgyne", what does that process actually look like?
The process of transitioning itself is easy enough to find, certain details (like hormone doses) may have to be between a person and an endocrinologist, but the actually step-by-step process is easy to find, there are plenty of books and its all over the net. But what exactly would a person do in this position? What would that step-by-step process look like?
specific questions as follows:
*Obviously a person doesn't just stop HRT, especially not after surgery and not after nearly a decade... but is it okay to "ween" off the Estradiol? and then eventually quit? How long would it be okay to go with "no hormones", i.e. how long of a break would one take between estradiol and starting up testosterone? How does one make a gradual switch over so as to not "shock" their system?
*How does one convince a medical professional to prescribe testosterone for someone in said condition? If they go to a "normal" doctor, the doctor thinks they are a female who is nuts for wanting testosterone, if they go the "trans" route, gender clinics balk at the idea of "undoing" what a gender clinic has already done... but of course, it would just be easier to be legally male again and then just get prescribed testosterone
but that begs the question
*How does a person in that position change their documents back again? Can they just get out their original birth certificate and go around to Social Security and everyone else and "fix" the info in the same way they did when they first got their changed birth certificate? Do they have to go back thru legal name change court? Does such a person have to get some form of "FTM" surgery?
What does the actual step by step path look like in this case?

Emily,
I wrote something today in the Non Binary forum entitled "What Happened?" that addresses this. You can't get off some kind of HRT post op and remain healthy. Check it out honey!
There actually is an ex-trans woman who is detransitioning after 13 years of living as a woman and such. Idk if they had SRS, but they had breast implants put in. Idk the name of the blog and the reasons behind it may upset the person, but if you put in "Detransition" in wordpress, you should find their blog.
