Title: passing without T
Post by: kittylover on October 14, 2014, 08:46:20 AM
I don't think I would want T if I can pass (which I only really care about so I don't get misgendered) and can stop my period otherwise ,which it looks like I can do with birth control. I like the way I look right now with a binder on.I was wondering if you guys might have any advice on how to pass without T.

Get a hair cut that's shorter on the sides longer on the top. Wear what decently fitted clothes, nothing overly baggy. Graphics on the front possibly. Certain earrings can pull off a good look. Watch other guys closely and mimic them.

Clothing and mannerism can do a great deal. The ladies suggest mall watching people to see how they walk and talk and then, as Wolfy said, mimicking them.

I think another important thing with passing as male, as wel as all the above is CONFIDENCE.

Most males seem confident, almost dominant. When sitting they take up space to show dominance, when they walk they have shoulders back and head high to show power.

If you're self conscious about how you're walking and constantly checking everything it'll be harder to pass. Just relax and show outward confidence, even if inside you're freaking out.

Some things I try to do, for example, is if I make eye contact with another male, I don't smile, just nod. If I'm meeting new people, I go in for a hand shake instead of a hug or just standing awkwardly. Again, that shows confidence. If I'm sat down anywhere, I sit with either my legs apart or if I'm on a sofa I rest my arm along the back of it, taking up more space.

I'm sure more thingss will be somewhere on the interwebs, but the most important things in passing are:
BEING YOURSELF, BEING HAPPY AND BEING CONFIDENT.

Depending on your genetics you can be read as male or not. I was never read as male pre-T. But some people can. I believe young guys have an easier time, but keep in mind they are often read as VERY young.
Being happy and self-confidence only helps you in being read as male if you have the genetics for it. But not a bad idea however you're read. :)

I second the idea of getting a haircut with short back/sides with some length on top. It can help give your face a more square appearance. Also try keeping your sideburns trimmed straight across, even if they're high up. As for clothes, a lot of it has to do with your body type, but generally I would say avoid pants that are too skinny as they can make your hips look wide. Layering up top w/hoodies, button ups etc is a good way to make your torso appear to be more male in shape.
