Title: pain in cold weather
Post by: ferretinafez on October 18, 2014, 01:24:37 PM
Hey guys, been a while since I last posted anything as I moved back to university and got swamped with work (5 assignments due the same day with only a week to complete them is not cool uni!).
Anyways, so I live on the seafront in my town and it gets hella cold out here and OH MY! My scars from the top surgery I had just under five months ago are killing me. I imagine that's pretty normal right? I remember when I cut my thumb on a piece of metal and it scarred over, the scar hurt in cold weather for years, but is there anything besides trying to wear sweaters more often that can help?
I guess it will get better with time right? I dunno, I just wondered if anyone had any thoughts and thought I'd post on the off chance someone thought it was unusual because if it is I guess i should get in touch with my doctor :/

Dr. Google says scars hurting from cold is not an unheard of complaint. Some results say it might be due to blood flow or skin elasticity differences in scar tissue vs. regular skin. A solution to this is somewhat less forthcoming, it keeps turning up crap about "cold sores" instead.

5 months isn't long.  I would guess all that is kind of nerve pain, which isn't terribly uncommon after surgery. I am pretty sure that would get better in time. I don't recall having that, but then I live in New Mexico. Winter isn't all that cold here usually.
