Check your surgeon's instructions and you can always email their office.
My vagina has established a nice healthy environment and self-cleans like most women's do. (4 mo post op). I just use hand held shower massager once or twice a week warm water gentle stream to rinse inside. Lube is water soluble so any residue that hasn't already come out will then. I never use soap or anything inside, though if I ever develop a yeast infection I may do a a plain yogurt pessary.
Yeah, check with your surgeon. Brassard says to stop douching after 2 months as the vagina is no longer a surgical site and will become naturally self-cleaning; I haven't douched since then, and so far it has been fine. It's not a good idea to douche once you do have natural flora and fauna, as it will upset that balance and can lead to yeast infestions etc.
i dont like sticking my finger inside cause of my long nails but i rinse the outside with water and soap and just spray the shower head (water) head on toward the vagina but thats it i always wondered what happened to the lube left over every time u dilate or have sex lol (which for me is often)
Chettawut recommends twice a week with betadine solution for first year at least. My gyno suggested twice a week with vagoclyss which includes lactose bacteria for breaking down yeasts.
Mostly though a good bowel movement will clean out a lot of lube as the muscles contract. Mainly because I seem to hold gunk inside. Now 12 weeks and regular dilation with 32mm diameter (Chet #4, soul source #2) seems to make the muscles relax more and easier for lube to come out...
