Title: sore throat help
Post by: FriendsCallMeChris on October 22, 2014, 09:09:26 AM
Hey guys,
I'm doing very low dose T and noticing (although no one else is) that my voice is dropping just a little bit.   (Just downloaded an app that proved the drop to myself, too! :D ) What I'm noticing even more is that my throat is staying raw, like I've been yelling a lot.  And I can't get the volume out that I usually can.  Can anyone tell me if you found sore throat relief and how long this lasts?

Can't remember my throat being sore during my male puberty. But to find relief you can try to moisturize your vocal folds more.
Gargle non-carbonated water (ideally its not cooler than room temperature; tea under 40°C is fine too) deep in your throat. Do that from time to time and the soreness should get better. And try to avoid smoke and alcohol. Both can make your cords even more dry. Your probably still used to your girl voice, but since your vocal cords get longer it becomes more difficult to them to maintain that voice. So try to relax your voice, even if you think you sound monotonous then. A lot of guys sound like that so its fine and it relaxes your vocal cords a bit.

Thanks, Railgun, really good advice.  I didn't even realize it, but I think you're right about my talking in my girl range.  Gonna have to concentrate on that one.  Off to brew a cup of tea!

Try a DIY cough/sore throat syrup.

3/4 cup organic buckwheat honey, raw honey, or local honey
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
2-4 tablespoons organic lemon juice or raw apple cider vinegar

Take as needed.
