Hi, I am the parent of a 12 year old child who is transitioning from boy to girl. I am looking for parent support groups in either Northern NJ or New York City. I've been connected to Hetrick Martin Institute and also a renowned transgender therapist in New York. Looking to make more connections with parents of children in middle or high school.
Thanks very much!
Have you attempted to contact PFLAG? They work with parents and families of LGT people.

They actually have quite a few in the NY NJ area.
Hi Kate, you may find some helpful information here: https://www.susans.org/wiki/Category:Family_and_friends
Here are a couple threads I dug up, some of the information may not be up to date.

I'll send this thread to Helen, she may have some contacts for you.

This would be a good place to look for resources:

I can't really help you with what you are asking but I will say a big thank you for being one helluva parent. Your daughter is extremely lucky to have you.

Yeah this post brought some tears to my eyes. I wish I would have had parents of this stature. So katenyc5 has my utmost respect and all of my well wishes and prayers. The prayers from me she may not want to depend on too much though. God hasn't answered mine yet but it does seem God answered kate's daughter's prayers. So I guess God does love someone and that makes me happy for them.
I shouldn't even hit the post button because I am so sick of "poor me".
Your daughter is very luck to have you as a parent. I commend you on your willingness to help her through what is likely to be a confusing time in everyone's lives.
