Basically any time I've been doing any research regarding my own trans issues, I've always ended up here, and thought it was about time I made an account and actually joined up :)
Haven't decided completely on the name I wish to choose. But Ash is the front runner at the moment so I'll stick with that on here. Currently twenty, and haven't started HRT yet. Living in Dublin, Ireland. Have my first dysphoria diagnosis letter from my gender therapist which is good and he is so lovely. Keep banging off walls trying to find a second doctor for the second letter I need to see the endocrinologist. Awful trying to get things sorted in Ireland. Going for the full MtF route. Laser pretty much done on the face and neck. Need to start the voice therapy though.
Realistically I've always known I was a girl but I kept pushing it down. It even took my best friend in school to lob the gob one evening before I realised I liked kissing guys. And I was seventeen by then. Wasn't the brightest sometimes. Thought the being a gay male would be the end of it and it would be fine but it hasn't even been close.
Currently I'm out as trans to basically only my closest friends. And they have all been wonderful. Was in tears especially with how amazing the best friend's reaction was. Everyone else just assumes gay male. Terrified mainly about work finding out. Or sports. Mama is taking the disownership route. Still living at home, but that is mainly due to her need with me to help out with some of the bills and don't act too girly. The minute I get onto the hormones I'm gone. Pops ain't too happy either but he lives elsewhere so not really an issue. Both were alright with gay, but trans went the whole not in my backyard deal.
In terms of actively pursuing the transition, I'd said I started properly researching and making appointments almost a year ago. Had mentioned some things lightly with some friends up to maybe three years ago now. But only really been telling them I'm a girl in the last eighteen months or so. Again, pretty much all positive reactions.
Anyway, I'm really hoping this place is as wonderful as it seems based on the scoping out I've done. Could do with a bit of support now and then or help with the odd questions honestly.
Hope to see people around,
Ash :)
