If you are in any FTM groups on Facebook, you've probably seen my post. I'm just trying to get a variety of opinions so I apologize if this is annoying.
Have any obese transmen had top surgery? Were there complications? I know we all differ, but I'm starting to develop chest dysphoria and I feel as though I'll have the strong urge to have top surgery before I'm able to lose weight. I need to lose near 200 pounds and I don't have the motivation to do so at the moment between being a full time student and working. It's much easier (though I know not healthier) to order out when I get home late than cook, but I'm changing that. I'm just curious if this will be a serious hinderance in terms of finding a surgeon and healing properly? I want to go to Dr. Medalie(Possible misspelling) in Ohio if possible as his results look wonderful. Thanks.

Obese people have greater risks, but that doesn't automatically disqualify you from getting surgery. If you are otherwise healthy, you can still be a candidate. Many people are not at their ideal body weight when getting a surgery.
You can ask Dr. Medalie directly about your concerns. He is really good at answering questions and he replies emails.

Yeah, the risks thing has been repeatedly stated and i realize that. But yeah, I may email him and inquire more about the procedure and what he recommends in terms of my weight. I should probably just get the motivation to lose the weight so I don't put myself more at risk than I already am.
There is more of an issue with both dog ears and just where the back fat (for lack of a better word) makes it hard to get a smooth look. Heavier guys often end up with still having moobs. But that's also more expected. Look at different surgeons and how they do with guys who are your size.

I'm a bigger guy who's had surgery and I'm waiting for my revision in December. The thing with having moobs is if you're a bigger guy, being completely flat will look weird. Most cis big guys have "moobs". I do agree with what others have said, that being said, my chest looks fine. I'm going for a revision to fix a few small things.
