Title: In a bit of a bind with binders
Post by: Jay27 on October 29, 2014, 06:37:51 PM
It came to my attention recently that the binders I have been using are not safe. I only started binding around July of this year, so I wasn't aware of what to expect and how to know if a binder is of  bad quality. Now I have thrown away the binders I had (so as to avoid hurting myself), and currently have no cash to buy a good-quality one. I was wondering what ways there are to hide my chest without using binders for the time being? My breasts aren't very big, but they are noticeable. I have been seriously considering getting top surgery, but that is still a far off dream at the moment since I can't even afford a good binder.
Any advice or methods of coping with parts of my body I don't like having?

What kind of binders did you have beforehand?

I've heard a lot of people who take some type of female butt girdle or something and they use that. I'll have to see if I can find anything on it. Other than that, I've heard certain sports bras can be really tight fitting. Maybe a mens shirt thats form fitting? on the tighter side, like a compression shirt?

I had bought them off of ebay from SHO, Whatwears, etc. They were inexpensive, so I just went for it without really researching. The material is not made to stretch, and the binder goes around the back as well (which it shouldn't unless made to correct back posture). I have heard of someone getting one of their ribs pushed inwards after wearing a binder from one of these brands for a very short period of time. I have also had a bit of difficulty breathing and experienced sharp pains in my torso while wearing them.

I plan on buying a compression shirt in the future, but I may have to stick with the sports bra method. I used to take two sports bras and put one on properly, the other on backwards. It will have to do for now, I suppose.

Do you have a job?

if so put a little aside every check to buy an underworks binder.

if not, its almost christmas time! if you still have family that gives you money do use that! or if you have a birthday coming up.

you could try the control top of that type of tights. people use to cut a hole for the head in the crotch.
there are back support things for sports that could also be usable.
i've never tried any though. i hate my chest, but not its visual effect, so bras are ok as long as they keep things from dangling and bouncing.
a funny one i am.

I've been applying for jobs at multiple places, but no luck yet unfortunately. I like your idea though! I'll save any money that comes my way (be it gifts or coins on the ground) and save it up.

Thanks! I'll see if I can do something with my tights for the time being.
