In order to live pay check to pay check i have to make 26000$/yr or 12.5$/hr at 40 hrs/wk. I live in Michigan. Any suggestions other than getting a fast food type job and working 62hrs/wk????? I have an associates degree in general studies and am willing to work my butt off. Any and all suggestions welcome!!!! Really, is 26k at 40 a week to much to ask for???
Maybe look into retail or security?
OMG... are you serious.... I have no university education and I wouldn't even get out of bed for that. I average $85,000 to $90,000 a year hauling fuel around.... and honestly it isn't that hard! If I were you I would drop the degree and look at getting retrained i to a workforce that will actually allow you to make a income. Sorry If I am coming on strong but wowwww. I'm sure shocked.
Heck I've had better years were I cleared 105,000. If you want a easier job and see the country for free do OTR hauling. That pays about 60,000 a year and you can live out of the truck for basically 500 a month and bank the difference. Retire in 15 years comfortable.
@Autumn Faith: Are you an owner operator, or were you working for someone else? My roommate and I have often talked about team driving once I've had top surgery.
I ran my own company for 11 yrs. I have been in the industry for a little over 25 yrs. My statement was based on a company pay rate. Tho I am in Canada 90% of work is usa based.... as a owner with one truck I usually generated between 240 and 260,000 per year. That DOESNT include operating costs... fuel repairs truck payments etc. Taxes usually are not a issues as there are enough write offs that if you have a decent tax person your tax bill should be very minor or none at all.
Life is hard. Wear a helmet.
Thanks for that :)
Bridget, have you thought about doing online work? There are a lot of reputable companies that pay upwards of $10/hr and you don't have to leave your house as long as you have high speed internet. In my experience, most of them have a good amount of work available, though some are project based.
